How much do the components cost? Previous mouse adapter solutions have used cheap, easy-to-solder, PIC microcontrollers.

None of those cheap, easy-to-solder PIC are able to cope with HID peripherals. What you have in mind is a bare PS2->Amiga adaptor, which is a complete different thing. Besides, the total cost of components between the two is, nowadays, almost identical. Last edited by sampedenawa; 13 January 2019 at 23:02. |

I would pay 15€ for option 1, the fw/license. That's because I like to build my own hardware, and adjust it physically so it suits my wishes/needs. But I also acknowledge the effort you have put into the firmware, hence the price tag.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and appreciate the effort ! Quick update about the development status: - yesterday I released (to myself ) fw version 1.5.2beta, which means: - support for any HID Mouse (position + 3 buttons) - support for any (*) USB 1.1 HID Joy/Gamepad (Analog, Digital or both) with auto mapping of first 6 buttons on Amiga 1-2 joy buttons - support for any (**) USB 2.0 HID Joy/Gamepads (Analog, Digital or both) with auto mapping of first 6 buttons on Amiga 1-2 joy buttons (*) Up to now, tested with Logitech Wingman Pro, ThrustMaster Wireless Dual Trigger, Thrustmaster firestorm digital (**) Up to now, tested with some different Chinese PS3/PC clone gamepads I am planning to build a 1.5.2 "final" within next weekend, which I think it could be released to the public for the first enthusiast users who'd dare to try. I would like to add support fro xbox 360/PC pads as well (it is a little bit more tricky, because these pads are not HID compliant, so a dedicated decoding scheme is required), but I will postpone it to next fw version. Besides, xbox-like pads need in general more supply power than others, and it could happen (I still need to verify) that the Amiga Joy port would not be able to supply an adequate amount of current, so at the end developing a driver for such a controller could be totally useless Now the interesting news: in a few days I should manage to build up a minimal page on github with schematics, gerbers and instructions. I should also have the first few DIY kit ready, so keep an eye here, if you are interested, for the announcement of availabilty. |

Just a quick post, to inform who may be interested that "times has come"
I think I reached a sufficiently stable firmware release, ready to be spread to the public, so .. I put up a github page, where you can find all relevant info: https://github.com/EmberHeavyIndustries/HID2AMI I would kindly ask to everyone, but in particular to English mother tongue visitors, to give me a feedback about the above, in terms of both readability, clearness and correct management of the English language (which is one of my weak points, I know). Don't be afraid to hurt me with comments and criticism. About HID2AMI board, then: At the moment I have no availability of complete boards (apart of my two first builds, which I am keeping for myself, and another one which I would like to give to the first one who asked from the Italian forum where all this started). I am planning to build a few (very few) boards starting from next weekend, but I can' guarantee anything Starting from mid-end next week I should be able to set up more or less 10 DYI kit, so anyone could be interested keep an eye here on the forum, and I will announce the availability soon. Please do not start requesting now, wait my announcement. Thanks. For whoever else would like to build everything from himself... you can start right now: go to github, read instructions and go ! Any comments here really welcomed. Thanks ! |

Thanks for your work on this sampedenawa. This looks like a fantastic board.
Your English on the git page is excellent. It's easy to read, has some humour, and gets the point across. Very nice indeed! |

I would probably be interested if the "app" didn't have stupid restrictions placed on it.

Give me few days, early next week I will post here how many kits I have available (whew .. I did not suppose such an interest for this project of mine)

All I can say is that I placed that kind of protection because I am tired to put lots of hours of work into a particular project, share it open, spread the info, only to see it grabbed few days later from some "smart guy" and sold on ebay in commercial quantities. I see it plain simple: - If you like the project, this is it. - If you do not agree with my policy (and I respect your position), I am confident you will happily survive without HID2AMI. - If you can't live without HID2AMI but don't like my policy: make yourself a compatible App: I released hardware schematics open, so you have all infos. I intend to mount mine internally on the mouse port header on the A1200 motherboard and install a pin header for a mountable USB-socket instead. Hence the sockets not being needed in the kit for me. =)

In this case I could make you the first one ambassador of HID2AMI outside Italy Would you be interested into "DeLuxe" or rather "Lite" version ? (Explain: "Lite version" (see it here- the yellow one https://i.ibb.co/CbP1Wjb/01.jpg) does not have mosfets on outputs, but they are directly driven by uP GPIOS. Please be aware that I should be ready to ship not before next monday. Send me an email with details, I'll check for shipping costs and options. |
