I love amiga stuff but what is the point of this kind of thing where everything covered in it is already found online immediately in our inboxes and feeds?

I personally enjoy real magazines, if only for the smell of the paper. Don’t judge me, but it is the first thing I do when I get a new copy of Retro Gamer in the post. I will be doing this with my copy of Amiga Addict.

Haha! Maybe in week one of the internet's life you could compile the whole thing in a ringbinder. That would be the perfect geek novelty Christmas gift. I wonder if you could tap the records and do it accurately. Hmm...

I just went for a 6 month subscription. A bit disappointed with the first front cover. I was hoping for some Amiga game graphics. Something more impactful and exciting. I'm sure that guy taking up the space is important but he's just a guy to look at.
When they start giving away cover discs with "£1000 of free software" that will be real nostalgia |

I subscribed to this magazine as soon as I heard.
I really want proper game reviews. A lot of the time new homebrew games get inflated marks because everyone knows each other. 5/10 or 50% should be the average score Seriously?? That's like saying "What's the point of books?? when I can get 1000 books on my E-reader or phone" Books are way better and it's nice to get away from the screen is the answer. Just like magazines. You can hold them in your hand and flick to where you want. |

What do you mean exactly? Give examples of bias game reviews in the home brew scene? |

I ordered a physical copy but I just got my download link. Going to wait for the magazine I think. More enjoyable to read it fresh

I've seen a lot. I think it's natural for a lot of people to look more favourably on new homebrew games espceially if they have been watching their creation. I read Retro Gamer magazine and I remember a Spectrum homebrew Schmup got 97%. In the same issue one of my favourite schmups (also homebrew but by a more professional company) got approx 70%. I have never heard of the Spectrum game since and it looked fairly simple That's fairly standard. someone will write a version of Centipede for the MSX and the review will say "collision detection is not perfect) and it will still get 70%. It's not just Retrogamer though, it's most places. Last edited by Gilbert; 17 December 2020 at 21:23. |
