Yaaay she's finally up and running again.

A friend of mine found two A500's in poor condition which I used for spare parts.
Unfortunately they where beyond repair.

I did manage to salvage a working Citizen floppy drive, a ½ meg ram expansion and a rom switcher with 1.2/1.3 roms installed.

Now I just have to give her a nice black paint job as I have completely given up on the Retr0bright project due to a lack of 12+% peroxide here in Denmark.

Can you not get some on ebay and have it shipped over? It's freely available on there - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Food-Grade-Hyd...item20b283c4a0

Might be worth the shipping cost to get that baby looking good again

Good point, as long as it's not stronger than 12% I should be fine doing that.
Anything over 12% is illegal to import and own though.

Wish I could find my first amiga I sold my Atari STE which was an xmas present to get it!

It was an A500 v1.3 that had the "plus" motherboard, I did the 1meg chip ram hack. For some reason it didnt have its rubber feet but at the time I didnt care as it was an amiga and I could play Assasin and Superfrog

I wished as well I would still had my first computer... Christmas 1989... It was sadly a PC... But it was the world for me, even when it had only 2 colors (Harcules), it was the Schneider Euro PC http://www.ntrautanen.fi/computers/o...der_europc.jpg . Saying that, I still prefared the Amiga but at this time the sound of PC was for me unbelievable. I remember it mostly because I played with my Dad on this mashine fore ages... Tetris .

Retroplay: Enjoy your Amiga!

I bought 99.9% isopropanol alcohol on ebay without having any idea
Fortunately it didn't end up in the custom checks.

Glad your Amiga 500 is back up, how does it feel to have the same machine again?

I haven't got the Peroxide, I did try with 3% but it's useless and just a waste of time.

Alrighty then, I FINALLY managed to get a hold on some 10% peroxide.

A little reminder on how things looked.

After 3 days under a 25w UV low energy bulb.

I still have it "cooking" under the UV along with the keys, mouse and bottom.

I'll post pics when everything is done.

Here we go.

That's a result I can live with.

The switches on the last picture is a 1.2/1.3 rom switcher and on/off for the 512kb trap door expansion.

I found 12% here in Sweden if anyone is interested. 170SKR (19€) for 1 liter which is a bit more then you would want to pay, but it already comes in a thick mixture, ready to be put on the plastics (found that out when I got the bottle. Happy surprise) =)

http://www.baressoshop.se/products/V...xid-12%25.html

Yes, they ship with DHL or pick it up from the stores in Stockholm etc.

I see people with problems everywhere to get the peroxide solution. If I were going to buy it in any shop I also think I woudn't find it. I just go to my nearest hairdresser and they all (I think) use it to dye hair blonde.
They also sell it to me cheaper as they buy it cheaper too, so 5 euros a 1 liter bottle (20%). Edit: Well, perhaps in Sweden everybody is blonde, lol.
