It's the symbol that a soldier earns when he is promoted to Major.

I think...

the fact that people have guessed its Cannon Fodder pretty much answers my question. I too have 4 originals of Cannon Fodder and frankly, as the question has been answered, I can't be arsed to look for it.

This has gone too far... I thought it was quite easy, but I spose none of you have played Cannon Fodder recently . My CD32 instructions say that the avatar pic ||=|| is the rank of Captain, and the one you get to via the link (if it works 4 u) is a star liike thingy for Major. I don't know which one you were saying was Major Shatterhand? Anyway, I can't believe nobody had a manual for Cannon Fodder handy, maybe I find it easier to find stuff cos I only have 13 Amiga games at the moment to choose from!

Here's the image, since I am a completist.

@NytroX86
You could have just attached the pic...

I tried using the IMG button to insert the picture into the link, but I suppose it didn't work because of the broken link. Thanks for helping me with that, the title under my name says it all (Well, concerning the Internet and Amigas anyway). And well done to Shatterhand for getting the Major correct.
I'll probably do this again but for now I'm gonna change my picture, I think the rank of of Colonel should be adequate, Colonel Nytrox has a bit of a ring to it .

The IMG button merely inserts the HTML IMG tag. If you need to attach a pic like I did, you must have the source pic saved to your system somewhere, then under the message you are posting (at the bottom of the table), click the Choose button, navigate to the location of that image on your hard drive, select it and Submit Reply. For future reference...
