Not sure if there is a scsi.device replacement for 2.05. You can replace it in 3.1 and I have done so with 43.45 or other to your preference. Perhaps you can use the replacement scsi.devices in 2.05 as well... never tried to be honest.

Oh, and go for 37.350. It has some fixes. Some say 37.300 can not handle more then 40mb harddrives and, although I found that to be false, I still use 37.350. Why use an older version? =)

You can still run os 2.x on kick 3.1 =)

Filesystems are stored on the disk itself and you do not need to put SFS or PFS3 in rom really. You do that on the disk itself. I recommend PFS3-AIO.

Did try yesterday, didn't work under Winuae. I did add and removed various files, so it's possible I didn't include a must have file or two.

I only have 37.350 in the Amigaforever package I own. Remus complained about missing key file on another rom I tried. I placed it in S, and in the Remus directory, and in the directory I placed the rom. Gave up in the end, and used transrom on a real Amiga.

That did work.

Don't think I have a 37.350 as a physical chip, but will have to take a closer look.

Manged to create my first custom rom, and it even works, almost.

I made one with the 43.25 version of the scsi.device, and left out workbench.library for space reasons.

I did put wbfind instead, as I read that must be done to copy workbench.library in lib instead of having it in rom.

When testing in Winuae, it boots up fine until you get to the green alien message when shortly after I get a recoverable error.

The error message is 3103 8033. Task seems to be different for each time.

A bit of searching reveals that it is a workbench related error, but nothing more.

When pressing left mouse button I get a 'software failure' with error '#8000000B' with a choice to either press 'Suspend' (with only a gray screen as a result) or 'reboot'.

The only thing I can think of is commenting out lines in S:startup-sequence after the green ailen text.

Any other pointers?

Hope im not hijacking the topic but I'd like to roll my own custom a500 1.3 KS roms and was thinking of buying this kit:

USB Willem Programmer + EPROM eraser:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121223887...84.m1423.l2649

and a couple of these eproms to play with:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/310649968...84.m1423.l2649

I realise these are 1mb roms so i'd need to make them "dual KS roms" and switch them (the physical switch is the easy part imo) but I have never programmed roms before in my life and have no clue - is there a guide I can follow to do this?

PS, I have instructions on how to capture the roms from my system and mash newer a scsi.device into them but thats it.

Looking at the Willem programmer, the bad thing is it can only do up to 40 pin eproms so you would need an adapter to work with the 42 pin 1mb chips. The eprom eraser they show really sux, i bought one, after 20 minutes of trying to erase a chip it would still not verify as blank so i took my old reliable one out and 15 minutes later the chips were blank.

Not sure how much you want to spend on your programmer, i bought the Wellon 390 which has a 48 pin header http://www.weilei.com/VP-390e.htm

I don't mind spending around the $100 mark for a programmer. If I could get the eraser as well for that I'd be pretty happy.

sorry for hijacking..

I have a minipro tl866 programmer, and it doesn't support 27C400, but it does support the 27C240.

From the datasheet, these two chips look almost identical, except for the pinout and the length of the programming pulse. Has anyone tried spoofing the programmer by using an adapter that transforms the 27C400 pinout into a 27C240 pinout and then successfully programmed a 27C400 that way?

Help making Custom Kickstart rom

So $200+ for the vp390 is just too much for me ATM - if I get a cheap Willen 40 pin unit for ~$100 and burn 512kb 40 pin roms instead I'll be happy (don't need dual roms etc).

What I'm unsure of is which 512kb eproms I would need?

Did you find a solution to programming the 27C400 with the TL866? I am looking at buying the same programmer, but would like to be able to burn a dual kickstart
