Mr 500 is that a PS 2 trackball? How does it work on Amiga???
They used to make an Amiga version of this - in fact, it was the very first Amiga trackball available, called "AmTrac". I've got a 1990 Amiga Plus magazine where they review it. They haven't changed the design in all these years and they're still making new ones identical to the one reviewed in that 1990 magazine. Unfortunately, they're only PS2 and USB now, but you can still use it with Amiga if you've got a PS2 adapter.

I use it on my A500 and A3000 with a "Mr. Mysza" adapter. I love this trackball.

Graham: I was not sure where to post this, home projects seemed the most appropriate! You can move it if you'd like.

CDTV mouse has a PS/2 type plug, should work with some modification, mine is exactly like the 1200 mouse just in black with a PS/2 plug.

indeedy, but the key plastic part is actually in a different orientation, thats why it wont fit in a regular PS2 port.

you can have it for postage as long as you promise to take lots of hardware pron for the guys here

its a great project and an awesome spray job!

The trackball is now called "MaxTrac". You can order the black one here and the beige&grey original here. The high price might make you grab your nuts in shock, but just pretend it's on eBay and it'll look like a good deal. I use a beige one with black ball on my A500 and beige with grey ball on the A3000. They match the Amigas nicely. Now I just need a black Amiga to get the all-black one.

Here's a picture of "Mr. Mysza" PS2 adapter:

Softhut is charging a shocking $42.95 for it - assuming they actually still have some. I thought $24.95 was a ripoff when I bought it from Softhut in 2002. Still... it does the job.

Edit: I just saw that they went and changed the trackball cord to make it USB - with supplied PS2 adapter. Mine are all PS2 (with USB adapter). So that means you'd have to go USB to PS2, then PS2 to Amiga. You'd have a "multi-adapter monstrosity" coming out of your Amiga.

Hey, maybe with that adapter combination you could use all kinds of USB mice on any Amiga then (as long as they're not doing anything complicated). That would be interesting.

Pricey.
Back in 2002 I got Mroochek (serial) adapter from eFunzine for about 50PLN (about 15EUR) and after that (2005 methinks) got a cheap home-made PS/2 adapter from Allegro for about 30PLN (about 9EUR). I'm using it to this day with a great PS/2 optical mouse, an A4Tech OP-620.
Anyways, I'm stil confused with the origins of Mr. Mysz

Well, it's not really a "prb" as such but it's seems to be the home for projects like this

AFAIR, Amigakit sells some nice black mice (not like the original CDTV unit).

Hmm, I should have sandpapered the surface first for smoother look. Hmm, I think I remember the surface of an a500 being smooth, so, is it the spray that makes the surface looking so.. uhm.. un-smooth?. Would be cool if it was totally black, if u know what I mean .....

Edit: Ah, I mean like the keys look, they look smooth.

Should have sanded and primed with plastic primer, I'm afraid your paint job is unlikely to last too long otherwise.
