Hello peeps!

TankX updated with single player support and some other improvements. How long can you survive against the computer tanks? Personally I'm having really hard time against three scary tanks.

Well known in the U.S.A., but here in Finland it doesn't mean anything. We even had a KKK-Market, which was a retail chain of small general stores.

BUT, CCRider is means here "glorious satan", coincidence? Mmmmkay.

Boring. :/

oh wow I was about to ask about single play. I remember playing this way back and thinking how great it was but then I ended up not playing it possibly from not being single player back then. It was the same for Combat of course on the Atari 2600 which also didn't include single play

So am I remembering that correctly that this didn't have a single play option back then?

Yes, single play is a new thing. I think it was mentioned on the AmigaLive discord last summer, so I started wondering on how it could work.

After quite a lot of trial and error and testing (thanks ztronzo ) I think it's pretty good now. You can basically adjust the game difficulty by selecting how many CPU tanks you play against. Six is maximum, and then it's really difficult with the scary CPU driver.

It apparently wasn't the author that added the nazi symbolism, and there's no way to know for certain it wasn't an innocent usage of a religious symbol that coincidentally fits with the "kkk" part of the name.

You'll just have to draw your own conclusions, I'm afraid.

Yet another TankX update now with even more tanks!

Support added for the upcoming multi-joy/octaplayer adapter by https://www.alinea-computer.de. With this adapter you get eight additional joystick ports, so it is possible to connect a total of 10 joysticks and have a proper tank mayhem.

Naturally you can assign the CPU to drive the extra tanks for more difficulty, and try to survive against them. Further details in the readme.

Cool stuff, looking forward to checking the zine out!

Regarding to "the computer always wins" comment, you should practice some more I can manage against three computer tanks myself.

Some background on the computer tanks for the interested readers:

When designing the "artificial intelligence", I decided that the computer should not actually be a cheater, instead it should have the same facilities as a human player would. For movement, the computer has a virtual joystick to control the tanks. To drive around and avoid obstacles, they have sensors that look for objects near the tank. To find enemies to shoot at, they have a rotating radar that takes about a second to do a full revolution.

If you end up in the shooting range of a cpu tank, it will take around a second for it to find you and then another 0-2 seconds to aim and shoot at you

Granted the "AI" is pretty tough, maybe there should be a fourth CPU driver that is easier compared to the current three ones...

AmigaLive provides multiplayer network play for TankX, though you need a modern PC to run it.

Thanks that looks like a great platform for playing Amiga multiplayer games.
