@saimon - do not panic about any of the tracks, you have created a tonne so far and there is seriously no hurry here I'm concerned I cannot source sfx for Breakthru though .. even just the fire/missile sfx!

@photon - thank you very much for the comments, hope this wil provide a bit of pick up and play fun. The arcade version can be pretty tough going, this version might be a snatch easier .. my reactions are not as good as they used to be!
It is an arcade port so can confirm it will be autoscroll, which means if you miss your targets they are gone!

I did not test the ROM yet, but if the sound test work would record with audacity

I would normally record from audacity but there is no separation from the music and sfx as far as I can tell. There is maybe a MAME build that can do this but have no idea how.

M1 is great but this title was sadly not supported.

Any help with the sfx would be amazing

No, you have to reverse the game to some extent to remove the music. Not very easy actually. No service mode either. Damn...

Found it while looking into MAME source code

sound test menu!! Press fire to play a sound. Some sounds are looped, so to rip the next one properly, press fire, then press "down" to replay current sound. There are 26 sounds (including stage musics)

Zoned the conversion to mono that I did.

10 minute job I didn't think it would be so easy!

is OT but you know if there is a self test mode in Flying Shark too? Was unable to find it (my mame is quite old)

it works here for me (i started quite a while ago ripping the gfx of the arcade game)

@jotd - amazing work in figuring that out, couldn't find that info anywhere and not for the want of looking either! Much appreciated, bt now has some sfx

@dlfsilver - fantastic thank you!

@saimon - can you please squash the track down from 9 channels to 3 to accommodate sfx only kidding, but I do need to drop a channel (chose channel left2 for testing) so it didn't sound weird. Maybe earok can incorporate AHI support in the future

I always had some luck with the various arcade ports sounds. Almost never had to hack the ROM to rip the sounds. For instance, on Amidar, the music doesn't start immediately, so you can trigger the sounds before it starts and you're good.

With some sfx it will add another dimension! Great job so far.

that MIGHT be a problem -_- i might put drums on the channel left2 so interruption does not affect too much

It's nearly ready!

It will run on OCS/ECS but sadly it would need to be a suitably beefed up machine.

Will also need a 2 button controller, was a nightmare to play with k/board and joy combo so ditched single button.
