Honestly, I don't know myself who or what the "er" is referring to. Irada? The people telling stuff? The things they say? Who they tell things to? Beats me.
Going by Retro-Nerd's translation it sounds to me like the guy's saying the things people say are not all false or useless. Or maybe that all of the people telling you things are not useless. |

Yep, "Er" refers to the planet irada. That's for sure.
For the people: The people are friendly and give you the needed informations, whoever is asking. |

I think it means that even if the people are giving informations to everyone it's still hard to do something (solve a puzzle/kill an enemy) on the planet. However it's still difficult to tell without knowing the context

There's not much context to be had. You're just asking a random passerby on Irada what the place is like. I guess I'll translate the last part as "It's not half bad." and have another go at the rest based on your thoughts. Thanks!

No, "it's not half bad" means something like " It's ok". But anyway, i can't translate it better.

Now I am confused. When you said "this one is not half bad" doesn't that mean "this one is all right" or "this one is pretty good"?

Yeah, but i changed the original phrase a bit, probably wrong.
The original "That's not half bad" means something like "you can expect further troubles on this planet", just like TCD said. In German: "Das ist nicht ohne". |

Ah, now I see. So you think it means roughly "the people are eager to tell you things, but it's not as helpful as you might think"?

There should be a notion of a warning in there I think.

After further discussion a friend of mine suggested this might be the intended meaning: The people on Irada are helpful with information, but otherwise the planet is a pretty rough place. What say ye?

Both translations seem to catch the meaning. Okay let's merge the two :
Irada is a strange planet, the people provide information to everyone, but let me assure you, the planet is a pretty rough place. Last edited by TCD; 21 November 2008 at 00:57. |

From reading what your possible translations are...
It may even be better as "Irada is strange, the people will give information to anyone, but let me assure you, this planet is a pretty rough place." as it sounds like a better sentence, BUT it may not convey what the original meaning was, I'm just going on what I've read from the translations. Is the person from Irada or currently on Irada? If not, it may be better changing "this planet" to "that planet" |

Yes, this is on Irada. In fact the person is Iradian (which is an alien species in the game).
