I've created an adf file out of it, grab it from the zone. Works fine with WinUAE using an A1200 config.

I've just uploaded the Pc demo of Shenandoah to the zone. (It's called "Shenpre.zip")
Enjoy - If you can. I don't even know how to start it in XP. |

Thanks!
Works great under XP with DosBox. Though there's a serious bug: If you die, no new ship will spawn, so you can't continue playing. But you don't die as fast as in the Amiga demo, fortunately. I'm going to start writing an article about the game for the pcGTW website now. //edit: Just noticed that the PC demo says "Copyright by TDS Productions" whereas the Amiga demo says "Copyright by Exceed Productions". What's the story behind that? Last edited by derSammler; 13 December 2006 at 19:49. |

Exceed vs TDS
Well this was never meant to be an official demo. That's why it says TDS, but it's Exceed that's behind it, and that's what it would've said, had it been official.
Feel free to post some screenshots from the PC demo. I have to try that DosBox... Last edited by olandrobo; 14 December 2006 at 15:33. |

Here are two screenshots from the PC demo, I'll make some more later: I'm really impressed by the graphics and playability of the demo. Especially the fluid scrolling would have been quite unrivalled on the PC back then. |

Orlandrobo: there is one thing I would like to know:
The screenshot in amiga dream 1 showed the landscape being a planet with big mountains in the backbround: the floor was filled with domes, craters, turrets, tanks, and even man-like bipeds (small). There were a great number of ships as well as a big ship in the sky. Could you tell me if this level is in the preview? (I would think so since they couldn't have that much info but the ones you gave them at the time). Also, the game greatly reminds me of sol deace for the megadrive. |

Those "screen shots" were more like level comps, showing how the game would eventually look. At that point we didn't have a working demo, so we put comps together in De Luxe Paint. That was done for all but one level, in order to get everyone involved an understanding for the overall idea of each level. Further more we made a type of story board when building the level, this made it easier for the programmers to see where and when certain objects, backgrounds and events would appear.
The level you're mentioning is thus not in the demo unfortunately. As for the big ship at the top; that's the 'shop ship', where you could spend your hard earned credits on more hardware. The hatch underneath it is where you'd dock. 'Sol Deace' I've never heard of... I have to check it out. Last edited by olandrobo; 14 December 2006 at 10:15. |

Awesome news olandrobo, the game looks wicked
Would be very cool to have it completed There are lots of Amiga talented people on this board that would probably be able to assist with sorting out the code and getting it finished. If positive things start to happen then maybe this thread should be moved to the section project.Amiga Game Factory (or start a new thread there)? |
