As I have never much been into the Metal Slug series and had never really played the first one before, just bashing through with one credit was probably too much of a challenge for me (learning enemy waves and boss patterns etc...) especially since I have some problem with the lack of diagonal shooting (which strangely does not really bother me in Turrican 3, probably because of a different level design)

So I clearly decided to try and optimize my score through the first levels I would manage to survive through.

I must admit that I found this one to be more 'one-credit' friendly than the others I have played (X, 3, 4) with less spammy bosses and enemy waves, so that's a good thing learnt from the league .

I also noticed some technical stuff that I don't remember seeing in the others, but maybe that is just bad memory: Water reflection of hero and enemies in the puddles and 'background' interaction when shooting at the cliff the tanks appear on in level 4.

Hi,

Just one question: How is this emulator supposed work? It just keeps complaining that it can't find any roms, while the path is clearly correct.

Enlighten me please

You need the NeoGeo BIOS roms in the same folder with the exe. Put the game roms in a subfolder called 'roms' and it should work. It's been a while since I set it up, but that should work

Just tried it and the version indeed doesn't work with NeoRageX... Since I have my NeoRageX full populated for years, I didn't know that there are different versions. Seems like this one is for MAME Sorry about that
Well I'm uploading my version to the file server in my user directory (User/TCD) and that should work If you want the other parts aswell that work with NeoRageX, just give me a shout
