Mode 0 and stuff
From what I saw in some (mainly French) demo's, it was possible to show all colors, on a mode 2 screen! :eek
Anyone knows how they did this? |

I liked the CPC, there's some nice things in common with the MSX, like crap Spectrum ports, and "lack of smooth scroll", even when there a few games that does it..
I also liked to see some of my fav spanish games (mainly from Topo Soft) with many colours on screen, instead of the crap Spectrum gfx ![]() @Laundromat that isometric game is probably Knight's Lore... I don't like the MSX version too much.. @Akira that bouncing game maybe is "Brainstorm"? It's from Loriciels, and it has a bouncing ball, but I didn't understood what I had to do in that game... (And yeah, I've only seen it on the CPC) About some games you guys recommended: Bruce Lee (!) - The best version I've ever played! Yie Ar Kung Fu - I think the C64 version is MUCH better.. the sequel SUCKS BAD in the CPC Turrican - It only scrolls when you are too close to the edge of the screen, making the game too damn hard. Still good. Ghouls'n Ghosts - Good conversion.. it could've been better, but it's very good the way it is. Army Moves - Indeed a very good version of it. Games I liked and no one recommended... Astro Marine Corps - The Spectrum version looks less 'blurred', but the gameplay is intact (that's my fav speccy game ever!) Konami's Ping-Pong - Not as fast as the MSX version, but at least is faster than the emulated PSX version ![]() Mad Mix 1 & 2 - I LOVE those games on the Speccy, and this colorfull CPC version made me smile ![]() Silkworm - Great conversion Prince of Persia - ![]() Power Drift - The best home version of this great arcade game. Of course, it's still eons away from the original, but at least this one is playable and fun, unlike all the others versions. I'll download all those games you recommended later |

Oh yes, Konami's Ping Pong! That was a brilliant ping pong game (doesn't this sound a bit too weird? It's like saying: "the most thrilling cricket experience!"). The "deuce" sound effect (a sound effect trying to mimic very high pitch speech) still lingers in my mind.
But indeed, those were some very intense matches I played at the time.. |

Not really a game, but
I was very fond of the EagleSoft cracktro music (well, cracktro, a giant logo).
Oh, and Thundercats (iirc) had very good music too. |

After the last moving I´ve done a year ago, I packed all my Computer stuff in big boxes, nice, warm and safe .... but right now I can only find one of my spare C64C and that one is in no good condition (Joystick Port 1 broken, User Port broken, 2 keys are missing) ..... be sure, the search continues and I´ll post the pic as soon as I find them .....

If all fails...
If I can type "run", "load" and the " marks, and it has a working SID chip, it might be ok

Play the MSX version of Konami's Ping-Pong. For me it's still the best!
Getting back in the topic... ![]() Today I had a long play of Wings of Fury in the CPC, great game ![]() And I found after all those years playing on the Amiga, I STILL SUCK BAD in that game ![]() I also played Mad Mix 2 for sometime, it's great to see this game with all those colors ![]() BTW, if you don't know Mad Mix and its sequel, I recommend download it, if you like Pac-Man and Pacmania. It's just the best rip-off from Pacmania ever! |

Was Silent Shadow released for the CPC?
Silent Shadow is a shmup from Topo Soft, and it's one of the best, if not THE best shmup for the Speccy, and its only big fault iss the monocramatic gfx, that makes hard to distinguish the bullets from the background. A color CPC version would undoubtly be FANTASTIC . |

YEAH! That's Silent Shadow!!
![]() This game is GREAT! I played the CPC version for 2 minutes, it seems to be the same as the speccy but with good gfx and all. I think that's the closest to have an arcade machine in a 8 bits machine, the panel takes nearly half of the screen, giving you a vert display, like in arcade games, the action is FAST & FURIOUS, 2 simultaneous players, you have smart bombs...and it's VERY hard It's just great ![]() Attachment Removed Last edited by Ian; 29 December 2001 at 20:18. |

![]() And next thursday,.... I'll get my new CPC 6128 !! (the 3.5" drive, the cassette cable, my walkman , the SCART cable , my brother and my copy of Target Renegade are waiting anxious the arrival ![]() |
