shame...
We should contact John Twiddy somehow again. I was so close a couple of years ago, he only needed some time to sort out some cd's which had the master-files on it. But I never heard from him again. Where is this guy now anyway? |

The game was also rewieved on THE ONE in August 1994 (4 pages!), from Matt(hew) Broughton.
If someone knows him could ask about the game... |

Nice!
If this pans out can we try to get a proper dump of the game disk we can all work from, i.e. using the CAPS dumping tool? I know I know. First things first. ![]() |

Nice one BippyM, though more thanks to you & esp. Dan Phillips/Robin Levy. Anyone who's followed their contris to Frank Gasking's excellent C64 GTW site, would not be surprised by their responses.
And "if" anything came off from it, I think it would be an excellent idea that (whilst we shouldn't hold our breaths-esp. with Mark Cale), a theoretical co-ordinated response ala CAPS (or other exp. Amiga compilers who reside here), be decided as the possible point of contact. What the heck System 3/Studio 3 are doing these days,I wonder-I thought LN4 got cancelled yonks ago? |

I recently spoke to Jason Page (Putty Squad Musician) about the game, and he said he never even saw the game - he and Richard Joseph were commisioned for the music, given a brief, and they sent the music to System 3.

So this a dead end then and we are nowhere near finding the game? :/
We should sum up who was contacted and who might still know something about the game like reviewers, developer team. |

Based on past evidence, it would seem John Twiddy would still be the best possible source if he had indeed preserved his work onto CD,but finding/contacting him would be another matter.
I seem to recall an article/interview with Mark Cale/John Twiddy from Retro UK magazine a few months ago. Others may recall more info, but think Studio 3 was closed down & subsequently Cale has started up a co. involved in mobile phone gaming with John Twiddy now involved there. However, in a email exchange with C64 GTW Webmaster Frank Gasking a little while back, he observed that Mr Twiddy was v. difficult to contact, with the Retro Magazine interview only possible via a phone interview. I think (being realistic), there's about as much chance at this rate of Amiga Putty arising from the ashes as the C64's mythical "Murder!" & "Daffy Duck". |

Maybe Twiddy even occasionally reads about this and even enjoys seeing one of his old games being and *remaining* such a mystery.

Putty Squad
hello chaps,
I did the graphics for putty squad back in the day, and was just looking on the internet for some images from it when I came across this forum! I can't even remember why it never got released on the amiga. I think it may have something to do with Ocean going tits up! Funnily enough, the amiga version was better than the SNES version. John and I added a lot more cosmetic details to it... Its nice to see people are still trying to track it down. I still see John and Mark, so will try and find out the MYSTERY ![]() |

This would be a nice info update for AGTW,if nothing else! Although the state of the Amiga market,(CBM collapse), undoubtedly had an impact on its non-release, any other anecdotes from the development of Putty Squad? From the magazine preview articles it certainly appeared a lot of thought had gone into the design of things.

erm, I'm not sure any thought went into the design actually! we just made stuff up as we went along and tried to get the coder to put it in!
