Sorry guys, I know this isn't Amiga related...
If you be more specific about "didn't work" then I can assist you ![]() All you should need to do is: ... Download MAME32 from http://mame32qa.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ ... Download Shinobi from here http://www.planetemu.net/index.php?s...wrom&id=470414 ... Extract Mame32b.104.3.exe to the root of your Local Drive (C). This will create a directory C:\MAME32. ... Copy Shinobi.zip to the directory C:\MAME32\roms. ... Start MAME32 by double-clicking on C:\MAME32\Mame32.exe. ... Let MAME32 search for available games, once complete select View --> Custom Filters, tick Unavailable and click OK. ... Exit and restart MAME32. You should now only see Shinobi in the list of available games. ... Double-click on this to run. A suggestion, I think that scanlines make the games look better. In order to turn on scanlines, do the following: ... Select Option... --> Default Game Options... ... On the Display tab from under Effects, tick Use scanlines and None to 25% scanline. ... Click OK. Hope this helps, if not let me know by PM and I'll assist you ![]() |

I should add that once the game starts, these key do the following:
... tab = brings up menu (here you can re-assign keys, dips switched, add/remove cheats etc) ... 5 = Coin1 ... 6 = Coin2 ... 1 = Player One: Start ... 2 = Player Two: Start ... Up Arrow = Player One: Up ... Down Arrow = Player One: Down ... Left Arrow = Player One: Left ... Right Arrow = Player One: Right ... Left Ctrl = Player One: Button 1 ... Left Alt = Player One: Button 2 ... Space = Player One: Button 3 ![]() |

i found a version that is nice & easy because it features an energy level which means that you don't instantly die when you get hit - i think it's the Shinobi Conversion for the Sega Genesis

The Shinobi is easier on the Mega Drive, because the arcades where built to suck money, while the home consoles needed to give you good gaming experience only for some days, then you go to buy another game. The Shadow Dancer (also known as Shinobi 2) is much better on the Amiga, may be they learned that bad ST ports like the Shinobi, would not bring fame.

And to be honest: the Amiga arcade port of SD is fair average. ![]() |

Just tried the Amiga port of Shinobi. What a disaster. Ugly graphics, bad music, jerky scrolling and the controls aren't smooth. Even the Sega Master or C64 ports are much better.

It may be bad only when you can compare with other versions.

Nah, I would say that Shinobi on the Miggy is a pretty bad game on its own. You don't need better versions to see that

That's true. The Amiga port is pure crap. A shame that the PC-Engine HuCard lacks some levels, it's technically the best port.

At that time I had only Atari XE and Amiga, so everything on Amiga was perfect for me.

And Amiga's Shinobi was only for ultimate fans of Amiga (not Shinobi itself). The best part of this game was music and only music. I think that, like Robocop for ST, this game was converted from Atari ST port, not arcade. And both games didn't use any of amiga special capabilities, only 68000 power. If you could put Shinobi for MD on Zone or at least attach some screenshots... |

There is Shinobi for Master System, but not for MegaDrive. So he can play on MegaDrive with Master System converter.

ahhhh when i play on my shinobi system16 board plugged on my supergun, can't stop thinking the graphics could have been so much better
![]() If only Richard Aplin was backed up by a great graphist, it would have rocked. Final fight too is not bad at all programming side, but the GFX would have need some rework color wise ![]() |
