hmm. i'm sure i did the diff on the files correct. so its strange, there are only changes to the strings in that file. i would expect some code changes, but what i saw didnt show any, but the strings.
i kept both archives, so is my suggestion. mistakes happen, maybe someone may have a deeper look to the files? |

i use ultraedit in hex mode to scan the files and apart from those changes i didnt find anything different either in the code areas so 1.91 and 1.95 are identical apart from the 5

Since i'm back from USA and at home now and since i did continue to save all my tools and driver disks as DMS files, i did look for CrunchMania 1.91r (registered) too.
It's revision 6 from November 1994 and must be the last released version ever. Maybe i can remove my (encrypted) personal data from CrM. And if i disassemble CrM then i can fix the cache issues with 68060 CPU's and the wrong display of more than 9999999 bytes of Fast-RAM too before giving it to the public. But i will never do this without the permission of Thomas Schwarz (aka Fresh Trash of Cerberus) if he is still alive. Unfortunately "Thomas" and "Schwarz" are very common names. So it's not easy to locate the right person. If someone knows what happened to Thomas then feel free to tell me. I got the last letter from him in 1995 (or early 1996) and we never had email contact. We did discuss about additional features for CrM, but it seemed he had already lost his interest in CrM. But i didn't search for these letters yet. In late summer 1996 i finally got my ISDN connection at home, then i was able to use internet and email at home too. But at this time i had no contact to Thomas anymore. Before i had only internet access at the university of applied siences in Regensburg where a friend did study. I got a cell phone since 1993, but at this time nobody did think about internet on cell phones. And the costs were very high back then. Two months after i got my ISDN (digital phone) connection i got a letter from the Deutsche Telekom telling me they can provide me now with the POTS (analog phone) connection i applied for in 1991! How funny ... I found many interesting Software at home (my parents house). But it will still take years to check and archive more than 10000 disks. Surprisingly i got no broken disks till now. The disks are still readable even after almost 20 years. But i didn't check my 5.25" disks with the SEKA, Trash'm One, ASMone, OMA and other assembler stuff and the backup disks yet. 5.25" disks were much cheaper and i had not much money back then. I even found my old briefcase with the most important software. When i gave this briefcase to a friend at a parking place in Regensburg his girlfriend told him later this looked like drug trafficking. btw .. i found the original CrunchMania 1.8t disk too .. this one is missing in the archive at http://old.exotica.org.uk/utils/crunchers.html I can zone this without the permission of Thomas. Ciao, Rick ... |

Crm should be packed with CRM, and with a binary / hex editor like azap you should be able to remove your name from the CRM file, replacing the same bytes with 00 in hex.
Personally due to the fact the creator has lost interest I dont think it would be a problem to upload the registered version edited of course. |

CrM is not packed at all and Thomas was not that stupid! What do u think why he used personalized copies for the registered version instead of keyfiles etc.? Each registered copy is unique and the personalized data is encrypted inside the executable. U have to disassemble the executable to remove the personalized data and to remove the whole copy protection. And i'm sure CrM does more than checksum checks to detect manipulations. Only in the CrM.library i can read my name unencrypted but there must be more traceable data. At least i remember something like this from my conversation with Thomas back then. There is a reason why u can't find a cracked version of CrunchMania 1.91r (not 1.91t). btw ... the code of 1.91t and 1.91r is significantly different and the CrM.library of 1.91r is much faster. hows the cracking of crunchmania going skylight ?? just curious, have you for instance found all the copy protection inside it, is it harder than you thought
what version is the crm.library ?? the one i got i believe was from DMC and has andy gibson in the binary, if you look at it through a hex editor mine says 4.30 when i run version crm.library and is 8808 bytes |

Sorry ... i'm in Bangkok now .. and busy with the Thai police since something happened with my house here and tomorrow i must go to the hospital again.
But like i said i would like to have the permission of Thomas first before i consider to release my copy of CrM 1.91r to the public ... But what's ur problem with CrM 1.91t anyway? What features do u need now that CrM 1.91t can't provide and CrM 1.91r can? Maybe i can help u. btw ... the CrM.library of my personalized copy of 1.91r is V4.34 from 21.11.94 but compiled or assembled on 08.12.94 with the size of 8800 bytes and has my name in it of course. The CrM.library of 1.91t is V4.30 from 09.02.94 with the size of 8838 bytes. The CrM.library of 1.91r is using a different codebase anyway and is much faster. Ciao, Rick ... |

Not garbage but not the registered CrM version. And not the latest either.

Nope. Never. I just created a "personal version" *cough* for me, myself and I back in the early 90's and always used that.

Yeah the "pop-up" is a bit annoying when using Crunch-Mania 1.91.
Skylight definitely has a registered version (as shown in this thread) and I'm pretty sure AMIGASYSTEM mentioned in another thread that he has also a legit / registered copy. |

Well, I just disabled the annoying "Please register" popup and nowadays I think there are much better alternatives than CrM.
That's a fake version! |
