Colorfull

IIRC, it was exactly white text and black background.

Edit: I've eventually found a screenshot of 'RawCopy' (you can also download it too) and it was not that 'cause it's too colourful

Sorry Bippy, nope

I am 100% sure about the colours being black background with white text in fullscreen with absolutely no other colours to it. I am also 90% sure you booted from a floppy which I think was not a dos disk either.

Hi DH,

Are you looking to fix corrupted disks, or are they good disks which can be imaged?

Nah! It's more nostalgia than anything else, but the actual tool was incredibly easy to use and very powerful and fast.

Back in those older days, It was a must have tool and only a few of us where I lived actually owned it. We never gave it out to anybody as it was too cool to spread

Well, I'm probably looking at at least 18 years ago minimum and most of them have moved on etc... I do still see the odd mate, now and then, but those mates were not the ones that had an Amiga

It's funny, although we were almost an elite band of people, when the Amiga was dropped, I lost contact with almost all of them + it also had something to do with my girlfriend at that time too, who is now my wife

So for any regular contact with the ones that I remember who had it, it's going to have to be no, for now anyway. Maybe I'll try and track some of them down tomorrow, if they haven't moved and if they've left some kind of forwarding address

one I used a lot was also b&w gui, but I GUESS it was DiskX as it had the nice unique function nowhere else found to scan a drive/floppy sector by sector returning all ASCII text/strings it detected, and these scrolled by while the disk was being scanned... very useful to find certain textstrings! (still not seen in any Windows disktool!) Was around first half of 90s, so it is not late 80s or early 90s but a little later.
Or was this something else? I believe it was version 2.62 or something like that, been a long time!

Hi DH,

I've found some likely Disk and File Editors for you on Aminet.

Deksid Disk/File Editor v2.10
http://aminet.net/package/disk/moni/Deksid210

Disk peek and update v1.5
http://aminet.net/package/disk/moni/DPU

NewZAP Multi-purpose file sector editing utility v3.3
http://aminet.net/package/disk/moni/NewZAP

TrackEd Disk Sector Editor v1.24
http://aminet.net/package/disk/moni/TrackEd

When you've recovered from your Birthday bash, have a look and see if one of these is the one you're looking for.

Cheers Prowler

My booze abuse went down a treat and I think I drank myself so sober that I was fully recovered when I woke up at 0730 this morning

Good Sector Editor

The sector editor I used to use was Sectorama. It ran in hi-res full screen mode and was light blue text on a dark blue background.

Hi mate,

Sorry for the very delayed response.. It's called Sector Editor or something. I can up it to the zone if you like but there's no docs etc as it's been on my HD for years..

It's also buggy.. i.e fails to read/write track 79 properly :/

@DH

You still haven't told us by a clear "yes" or "no" if it was Steve Tibbett's DiskX or not, but just been talking around it all the time instead.
I DO think redblade (1st mention) and dirkies (2nd mention) are right.
