If necessary I can provide pictures of the disk and /or Box-Cover for HOL.
Excellent nujack

In the Zone. I don't emulate, so let me know if the extended ADF works.....

@DamienD
Long time no see! How the hell are ya??!!
Hello there DrBong,

Thank you kindly my friend. Yeah took an extended leave / sabbatical from EAB / Amiga stuff due to real life etc... Quite a few years ago indeed, I think it was around 2007 - 2008 when I disappeared...

I'm very well, hope that you are too.

Anyway, good to be back and to see that all the lovely folk at EAB are still as helpful, friendly as ever. You guys rock

The disk is NDOS and gurus soon after booting on AGA machines (even with degrading), so try it on an A500 to see if it works. If you have the time, then we'd very much appreciate higher quality scans of the game disk and cover sleeve (see HERE for HOL scanning guide).

Yeh, me too from 2008-10 and then again last year while I burnt through another long-term relationship and finished a PhD. Least I can really live up to my handle now!

Although for some reason the title music is always messed up when I first load it (same with the version Damien uploaded) but it was fine after I died and it went back to the menu screen.
Cool! Hmmm, the music works OK first time on my A500 (KS 1.3, 1MB chip). What UAE config are you using?

I've just shoved a raw dump of Revenge II in the Zone. Give it a shot and see if that messes with the music after booting too. If it does, then it might just be a config issue.

It's definitely a config issue, darned if I can work out how to fix it though..

Happens to me also Belgo with all the versions we have access to.

Like you have tried numerous configs / settings but can't get it to work smoothly.

Mind you; the sound is only garbled for 5 seconds or so when you see the title screen with the camel walking and text, then it seems to fix itself...

Speaking of standalone disks; I've also created one for unreleased game "Superhero" that came from here: http://amr.abime.net/issue_336_coverdisks

In The Zone if anyone wants

If you guys have tried many different configs, perhaps it's an emulator issue then??

I converted the extended adf to hfe and loaded it on my Gotek HxC 3.0.6.6.

Same thing happens as in WinUAE, audio is garbled for 4-5 seconds then it corrects itself.
My Amiga is a pal rev8a A500, ks1.3 + 512kb slow trapdoor exp.

[edit]
Switching to ks1.2 and disabling slow ram makes no difference.

Does the cracked ADF DamienD made do the same thing on your A500? If I understand correctly, they're saying the cracked ADF, extended ADF and raw dump all behave the same with the music under emulation. I guess I should test Damien's ADF on my A500 too.

Send a message via MSN to dlfrsilver
i confirm that the game is unmodified (good!), and that it has indeed a protection on track 1 (Protec $4454). I have there also the music garbled on the start for 4-5 seconds.

There's maybe an emu problem..... this has to be checked....

I can't get the cracked version going on my A500, works in WinUAE though.

As soon as I type "x 2" it loads for a while then gurus (#00000004.00C05128).
I have tried KS1.2 & KS1.3 as well as 512kb slow disabled.

Perhaps ECS is to blame here ?

You could try the modified / standalone version I made. Should still be in The Zone.

The original had something like 'stack 150000' before 'loader' in the 's/startup-sequence' or '2' file (from memory). I left this in on the modified / standalone version but it would work without. Maybe try removing this.

It has an encrypted part in the bootblock which I doubt a real 020+ can decrypt properly as its SMC

The disk is actually a standard AmigaDOS disk, but what they've done is patch AmigaDOS with a custom decoding routine so to the user it looks like a non dos disk.

A similar idea was used on Motorbike Madness.

Give me a sec

Bingo!

If I remove "Stack 150000" from startup-sequence audio works on real hardware, A500 in my case.

[edit]
Thanks Galahad.

Nice one guys. I'll remove this from the standalone version I made when I'm back in the UK

One thing that puzzles me is that the extended .ADF that DrBong made from his original has the same issue. I didn't look at the s/startup-sequence but maybe this is also present (though I can't imagine why; I think it was on the compilation disk due to the cracktro taking too much memory etc)?

Original disk.

Disk name = protec
43% full

Startup-sequence says:
Stack 15000
Loader

Cheers Galahad

I wonder why they used this; as we've experienced the game runs without it?

...so we should just remove the stack line from either DrBong's .ADF or the modified standalone version I made and all good (preferably DrBong's if possible)?

So long as it has the following files:

loader
mainprog
charset.dat
kybtext.dat
clouds.dat
compback.dat
compcaml.dat
csprites.dat
music.o
title

Then its had all its original files ripped from the custom disk and then simply copied back onto a normal AmigaDOS disk and all the game is there with nothing missing.

Cheers for the info Galahad.

I'm currently in Madeira on holiday which means I don't have my laptop with me so can't check. Pretty certain the compilation (and then the modified standalone copy I created from that) have all those files on them

It should be as it was sold to me as NOS.

Not surprising.....the disk doesn't produce the customary floppy drive grinding sound of a typical NDOS disk when inserted.

Anyway, since you did the WHD patch for Motorbike Madness, can we twist your arm to do one for Revenge II (pretty please)?!

Just got back from holiday

Removed "Stack 15000" from the modified standalone .ADF and tried running. Unfortunately in WinUAE the sound issue is still there

Tried the following Quickstart but didn't make any difference:
... A500 1.3 ROM, OCS Agnus, 512 KB Chip RAM
... A500 1.2 ROM, OCS Agnus, 512 KB Chip RAM
... A500 1.3 ROM, OCS Agnus, 512 KB Chip RAM + 512 KB Slow RAM
... A500 1.3 ROM, ECS Agnus, 512 KB Chip RAM + 512 KB Slow RAM
