I dont have the card yet, just ordered it. But if its just a case of switching the jumper then that would be superb...

Yes, it just plugs in the trap door expansion port, no configuration needed. The additional memory is detected next time you boot up.

Yes, it will conflict with the PCMCIA port with 8MB installed. AFAIK, this can be avoided by replacing the supplied 8MB SIMM with a 4MB SIMM, but I have not tested this.

There is no jumper on the card. I've always assumed that the "4/8" legend indicates that the card forms the basis of Analogic's A1200 4MB and 8MB memory upgrades, and that only the 8MB variant is now offered, being the more popular.

If the card does not autodetect 4MB RAM with a 4MB SIMM installed in place of the 8MB SIMM, then I would guess that this can be accomplished by removing the hardwired link adjacent to the "4/8" lettering. Of course, it's possible that replacing this link with a jumper would actually facilitate 4/8MB RAM selection with the original 8MB SIMM fitted, but I doubt it.

@Steve,

You will be in an ideal position to test this when your card is delivered. I cannot test this myself, unfortunately, because my card presently has a fault caused by a dry joint which I haven't had time to fix yet.

Let us know whether your card looks the same as mine when it arrives (mine is about 8 years old now) and how it performs for you.

@Peter

I just spoke to Analogic because I did not get a proper confirmation email for my order/payment. They have advised me that they no longer stock this part and that they are yet to update their site to reflect that.

So I am still in the market for a reasonably priced 2, 4 or 8mb memory upgrade for an A1200

Thanks,

Steve.

Hmm... They should reconsider their decision IMO. If they were to commission further builds of this product, I'm sure they would sell a good number of them.

There seems to be reasonable demand now for theseI guess they are startng to become rare.

Maybe it would be worth buying a bulk of these expansion boards if there is someone who can manufactuer them?

Maybe something I should invest in!

Steve.

I wonder if Amigakit would consider building a suitable product...
