Just gave it ago on my A4000.
Looks and plays well. Just need work on getting audio to work. Edit: Am I doing something really wrong as I can't get joystick / pad to fully work? It will read the fire buttons but not up/down, left/right etc. Tried Competition Pro Retro, CD32 Pad and a USB pad as well. Last edited by kgc210; 21 May 2017 at 22:01. |

Will have another look after work.
I gave the Zelda game ago but the enhanced one, runs slow but controls work fine. How have you got the audio setup? Does it use ahi or direct to paula? |

Got there in the end with OpenTyrian.
Problem with audio was with my AHI setup. I ended up downloading an AHI config file of the AmiAMP website. Really really impressed with how quick the game runs! It really is in the Saturn and Dreamcast playability for that sort of game. Gave the Zelda games ago as well, mixed results. Tried Zelda 3T first without installing Amitimidity runs quite smooth with nice text speed and movement speed quite acceptable. Installed Amitimidity like the instructions state, holy moly talk about dog slow! I gave up waiting for the title screen to load it was that bad! Then I gave Zelda ROTH ago, the non enhanced one. (Amitimidty uninstalled at this point) Was very slow, got to the save slot position and gave up, quicker than Zelda 3T with Amitimidity installed though. I thought for a laugh I would give the Enhanced version ago... This version is faster! How? It's not as quick as Zelda 3T without Amitimidity installed but I managed to get into the actual game and explore a little. Movement is sluggish and the text on screen is quite slow. I then renamed the music and sound folder. This resulted in quite a speed increase, but I wouldn't quite call it playable yet though and not as quick as Zelda 3T. I am not writing this as a criticism to your work but want to try and find a way to get these running quicker on real hardware. I am really grateful too your ports especially how quick and fun OpenTyrian plays! Just so you know I am trying these on an A4000 with a WarpEngine with an 060 at 90mhz, 128MB on the card and 64MB on the Motherboard, so a pretty quick real Amiga I think. Is the engine for Zelda ROTH more advance than Zelda 3T and that's why it's running slow? Or do you think the original source code to both Zelda games are poor compared to OpenTyrian? |

Zelda3T is compiled with ixemul and FPU, this is only difference.
Music in this version use midi with 30mb of sound patterns, that's why with music on it is so slow. Enhanced uses wav music which is much faster. Is http://aminet.net/game/role/ZeldaROTH-68k-US.lha also faster than Enhanced? Generally one game is better written than other. Nowadays coder doesn't look at optimisation on Ghz machines. Also Zelda code is in c++ which is mostly slower than c. |

Great work Arti, thank you for bringing us such nice games. Is there anyway you could look at the possibility of porting OpenRa engine ? http://www.openra.net/

Gave your Mini Metal Slug Beta 5 ago. Really impressed with it so far. Is it a limitation with the main engine that you can only fire up and left / right etc? On the original you could fire in more of an arch. Incase anyone else tries it, I had to run a 16bit screen mode or got funny colours. |
