Hmm, I see conflicting reports now..

Can you explain as exactly as possible whats wrong? For example, use some tracker-like program to confirm which channel is missing and/or can be heard from wrong speaker etc..

Or use debugger's (shift+f12) sm-command to test channels one by one. sm 1 = only first Paula channel enabled, sm 2 = 2nd, sm 4 = 3rd, sm 8 = 4th (simple bitmask)

the different test in the debugger :

am 1 : (channel 1) front and rear left (same song)
am 2 : (channel 2) front and rear right (same song)
am 3 : channel 1 to the 2 left and channel 2 to the 2 right
am 8 : different of the others you can hear to the rear and the front left but the level power of the song is ridiculous.( if you know well turrican 2, in game you hear just the little fire with am 8 )
PS:no one play the rotate fire.
i hope you will understand wath i mean, again sorry for my bad english (i did my best.

http://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.zip updated. Attach winuaelog.txt again with both 4 and 5.1 modes selected, thanks.

(same am-command works, it was added during 0.8.2x era..)

this is strange there is a difference between the version 1.3.3 and the new version.
I explain:
in the version 1.33 all the channels are separate and in the new version all songs are there but in the front speakers it seems to be mixed with the channel the rear speakers, i 'll make more tests with debugger.
with the version 1.3.3 i entered in debugger but the command am did nothing how can i have the list of commands for thi one.

new test with debugger:
am 1: left front speaker alone
am 2: right front speaker alone
am 3: the two front speakers with different songs
am 8: the rear and front speakers left
there is no difference between 4channels and 4 channels 5.1
Is it not strange that one by one the rear right has no sound and with the 4 channels (launched like usual, witout debuger command) the rear right speaker has a song ?
i hope it can help.
The end of the tunnel is near.

I see similar results. both 4 channel and 4chan 5.1 produce same output.

testing with octamed. channels 0 and 1 are front. and 2-3 seem to get cloned (front back).

it is a step closer though, at least we can hear all the sound channels now

Stereo separation disabled? (it had no effect since before beta6)

At least Soundblaster 4/6ch problem was solved..

Story so far: I was getting desperate and I started looking for open source mediaplayers because they apparently work. Few minutes of googling and I found it, VLC's source explained it perfectly:

<snip>

/* Needed for 5.1 on emu101k */
dsbdesc.dwFlags |= DSBCAPS_LOCHARDWARE;

</snip>

Which is quite interesting requiremement. DSBCAPS_LOCHARDWARE means sound buffer must be located in card's hardware buffer. No space or hardware buffers, open fails. DSBCAPS_LOCSOFTWARE is opposite.

Both DSBCAPS_LOCSOFTWARE and DSBCAPS_LOCHARDWARE not set means "best available" will be selected. (default setting)

For some reason Creative decided that LOCHARDWARE must be specified or >=4 channel audio streams only play in 2 channel mode. ("extra" 2 or 4 channels are simply discarded from the stream..)

Illogical.. Nothing in documentation, must be some very "creative" feature.

The fix was to specify LOCHARDWARE if >=4 channels, open the buffer, remove the flag if open fails and try again (most MB built-in cards don't support LOCHARDWARE)

This didn't happen in old versions because DX libraries used to build WinUAE were "ancient" until recently. Reason was old D3D filter problem, libraries were updated after D3D was fixed to not require latest DX runtime.

Sorry but i don't understand all,
doest it mean that you have a solution and you will implement it in a next versio or does it mean there is no solution for creative cards.
If there is no solution could you suggest me the best card with winuae.
Thanks for all

Fix is already added and the remaining problem is caused by something else (like stereo separation or because of weird tweaks I had to add for debugging..)
