I think maybe I should endure this pain of using floppies on my next livestream DJ set

thumbing through a box of floppy disks has a certain appeal

it would look great on video.

plus you can use the ones with bad sectors as beermats!

i'll be using goteks.

We'll see. I compiled 4 floppies with music last weekend, and will try to DJ with them on my next stream, maybe this week.

I immediately realized a few problems to this approach, besides the inherent inconvenience of floppy, related to how PT-1210 works. To be put on the bugs/feature request list, which is getting rather large :/

you need a case like this but full of floppies.
and a spare week or so to write the files to floppies...

i'll hold off on the feature requests, i'm sure you've got plenty already.

i might have been bitten by the amiga assembly bug.
i've been following along with the youtube series that photon/scoopex did, and reading the amiga system programers guide. if i manage to stick at it i might manage something useful one day.

got some progress to show!
upgraded the first a500 to 1mb chip ram.

unfortunately pt1210 isn't usable in black and white, so i'll have to use the a520.

i still didn't get my eproms so i'm still on ks1.3. showing 714k free chip ram.

strangely though the floppy drives seem to be working quite well now though, maybe i'll end up running from floppies after all. (my floppy emulators are coming from china, so i have some waiting to do.)

Why not? Looks OK to me in B&W. Yes, it would be good to have a bit more contrast among elements, but I intend to implement that when I add a feature to it.

Wait, what? It's not supposed to work.
Are you booting fro floppy and managing to load a tune after that? Because your pic just shows the loader. It should hang at that point with 1.3.

Let me know, this is interesting, if it actually works.

i can't see which track is selected, theres not enough difference in contrast to see the which track is highlighted, i can't tell you about the rest though...

these car lcd screens are really nasty btw, they skip some scan lines on the screen.

it dosen't work; it hangs when i try to load a track. sorry to get your hopes up!
it just clicks the floppy drive one time then freezes. so maybe it's getting as far as seeking before it freezes.

if i was you i wouldn't even bother with ks1.3 but i can totally understand the satisfaction of having it run on *any Amiga*.

Yeah I see, contrast can be a bitch. As I said, I plan on making an addition that would help with this! There are people who need high contrast screens to be able to see, so I intend to help them out too.

Yeah, it must run on every Amiga. The only thing stopping it from doing so is this stupid bug
