Boot using the Workbench disk. Open a shell and try this:

Quote:
format drive dh0: name System
And what is this formatHD? I can't find it on my Install 3.1 disk(s).

Fascinating. A regular 2.5" IDE cable must transpose the pins also... never knew that.

Exactly right, it's pretty hard to visualise by just looking at the connectors or a pinout, the diagrams on this page demonstrate how the connectors actually go together.

Hi,

I bought on eBay this CF-IDE adapter :
http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=280204764850

I didn't see this thread with all this diffrents models, so do you know if it will work on my A1200 or do I need to buy another one ?

If so, this adapter has a 3"5 connector, so I need to buy a 2"5 to 3"5 cable. Do you kow where I could find one please ?

You need the 2"5 to 3,5" cable and you have to buy a splitter cable with a free floppy power cable to power the adapter.
In my opinion, it would be better and simpler to buy a 2,5" CF. It's true you need a 2,5" cable (you can use the same of your 2,5" HDD), but you don't need further cable to power it.

I don't know if I really need to power the adapter. I think it's only for the second side, if I want to put a second CF on it.
I bought a cable on eBay, I'll see if it works fine, otherwise I'll buy a simpler 2,5" adapter like you said.

Or simply use HDInstTool. I couldn't apply the patchs on hdtoolbox, don't know why. HDInstTool solved the issues.

and then ill whack a 1gb cf card in it and install wb3.1
Thats almost like the one i use in my CD32 and it works with my 1GB sandisk. I used the WB disks to format it then transfer a presetup OS installation from my laptop to the cf card, then into my cd32 and go

Complete Set
