thanks for the idea - I will ask around... in the meantime I have popped a couple of bids on a few 500's not too expensive so maybe one of those will pan out... as you say you can never have too many Amigas

just a shame there isnt a more practical workaround in the meantime as like you say RTG is great for productivity and Workbench but most games drop back to the native output(in my case the indi)
