I just needed the adfs to actually see what was wrong with them.

To program data correction methods I need raw dumps.

Edit: Colours will signal everything. But as it is unfinished it remains on the screen after the program stops.

Well, I'm going to bed.

Here's the latest source and binary.

@Supamax: this version improves the polled transfer speed. Tomorrow tell me if now the polled and dma sizes are similar. Thanks for everything mate

Good morning everyone

Here's a new one.

@Supamax: This one will correct the "5" errors in the last 2 tracks. Everything else I'll have to see to be sure.

Fixed missed index bug in the rawread correction routines. Let's try this now.

After analysing the data, I've got to the conclusion the the errors in the adfs are the same rawread with "x -1" produces, so let's implement a new algorithm.

@SupaMax: I could use new RAW (polled and DMA) images made with this version.

Thanks mate!

Up until now I had been working on slow algorithms. I'll try to come up with a fast one that can actually be used on a slow amiga.

It's not going bad. Most reads are actually identical and therefore they don't even need correction.

Here's an error with the 'lining up' algorithm.

I thought the Amiga couldn't read two '1's (polarity changes) in a row from a floppy. Is there a missing 0 in the middle or are the two '1's the same?

Correcting data without making assumptions about the underlying encoding is actually harder than I thought

The complete visual aids will only be finished for version 0.9 or so.

RawRead's correction can now be used in DMA mode. If it works well with that mode remains to be seen though.

Cya tomorrow

Edit: Wowww. It works very well actually! Massimo, try this one out.

In these days I'm dumping my last 200 floppies. They are on 5.25" disks.
I wrote them (back in the days) with my supa-dupa-floppy-drive TEAC FD-55F-22-U (80 tracks 96tpi double density). A super-stable drive, which can be used exactly as a 3.5" .

I used it for a while because 5.25" floppies were half expensive, compared to the 3.5" ones.

Hi BlueAchenar,

I have three ideas for your future releases:

1) if the programs exits with some error, it would be useful to see on which track it was positioned

2) along with the blue & red dots, it would be useful to see a two-digit number displaying the track on which the floppy drive is currently (physically) positioned. You could put it at the right side of the Prowler Visual Aids (TM)

3) could you enable the "exit with LMB" during the error-correction algorythm, too? Otherwise it's possible to exit only when the drive is reading, and not while the data correction is in progress.
