Don't worry; have now figured it out... I needed to move "Warcraft.hfv" to the newly created "Mac" folder to replicate your setup on CF card.

Phew, now that I figured out what hacking I needed to do... I created a fresh .HDF.
All completed so began testing ![]() All was looking good; I played the game twice, completely quitting WinUAE / restarting emulation in between. ...but then I got the dreaded error again: ![]() This keeps occurring everytime when loading afterwards, so same situation as previous for me ![]() Only way to fix is to re-extract the fresh .HDF again but it's only good for 1 or 2 plays. |

What needs replacing the Mac OS System HFV or The Warcraft HFV?
If it the Warcraft HFV it can be copied to Ram then it will never get overwritten. |

Found a solution; don't know why I didn't think of this earlier
![]() ![]() ![]() Anyway, it's the "OS" .hfv file that once getting written to and then after totally quitting / restarting emulation, won't work again for some strange reason. So... I made a copy of the original "Startupdisk.hfv" and renamed it "Startupdisk_base.hfv". I then added this to the "S/Startup-Sequence": Code:
Delete SYS:Startupdisk.hfv >NIL: Copy SYS:Startupdisk_base.hfv Startupdisk.hfv ![]() Quote:
![]() I set both of the above; and then using HFVExplorer; ripped the "Warcraft Preferences" file out of the "System Folder" --> "Preferences" folder from the modified "Starterdisk.hfv". I then inserted this into a clean "Starterdisk.hfv" that hadn't been run yet. All is now working perfectly; very happy ![]() The one downside is that you can't save game progress as after restarting these will be lost (due to "Startupdisk.hfv" overwrite); but "Save States" seemed to work fine when I tested ![]() Only one last thing that could help improve this game; and it's not something that I know how to do... I noticed that if you select "Reply Introduction" you then get a message about needing "Quicktime" installed: ![]() If this was installed in the "OS" .hfv file then you'd see the intro, any cutscenes and the game ending video ![]() |

I think simply the second hdd is not set to RAM:GameHDD. hvf but something else on my physical hdd.
I can make a prefs file based on the compilation's prefs plus the changes. But, if you can go to the ShapeShifter folder and start it from workbench it brings up its prefs window. It's very straightforward to use. The 2 checkboxes are on the SCSI pane. |

![]() The only thing needed now is for "Quicktime" to be installed on the "OS" . HFV file; and then hopefully you'd see the intro, any cutscenes and the game ending video ![]() Quote:

Oh I see these, if that's what you're talking about:
![]() ![]() I'm talking about the introduction, possibly cutscenes and the game ending which will probably be video ![]() This is what happens if you click on "Reply introduction": ![]() |

I'll check Quicktime. I'm afraid there won't be enough space on the OS hvf and I have yet to figure out how to duplicate the OS to a bigger hvf.
On Amiga it's a simple copy in Shell. Too bad there's no shell in these old mac os's. If anyone knows how this can be done please don' t hold back ![]() (worst case is a reinstall) |

Just noticed that there are graphics not shown correctly after finishing a stage:
![]() I haven't tried in v1.08 to see if the same thing occurs; but I'll do that now. Quote:

Ok, just tested "v1.08" and the "Victory" screen isn't corrupt:
![]() Just to be sure that it wasn't a random glitch with "v1.1"; I retested but unfortunately: ![]() Shame really; as I liked the look of "v1.1" over "v1.08", but considering this issue, I may change over to "v1.08". v1.08: ![]() v1.1: ![]() Unless of course the installation of QuickTime fixes the issue in "v1.1"... it may, considering it handles many graphics / video formats and needs to be installed anyway ![]() |

i have tried Warcraft.toast and Warcraft 1.08 and with shapeshifter works good. i can see any cutscens and if i press "replay introduction" i can see again it without problems. on an old CU Amiga Cover CD there is some Mac File ready to use. I think it is 7.5.3 and then you can upgrade to 7.5.5. freely. Of course you can download 7.5.5 from that Mac repository and then install on new bigger hardfile. |

Reinstalled .hvf of Mac OS 7.5.5 in the Zone. Has Quicktime and Toast.
Warcraft plays intro. I leave you to test victory screen ![]() ![]() edit: btw install was a real PITA as 7.5.3 can't mount disk images by default Disk Copy 4.2 wouldn't work with it, Toast needed serial then it could mount 7.5.5 floppy images but Toast needed restart for each floppy image ![]() Anyways, I wanted to keep OS size down thinking about using it on my compilation CD. Turns out a 30MB disk would've sufficed, now it's 40MB.. But I don't feel like reinstalling again. Don't know how the guy who made "Starterdisk.hfv" could fit this in 10MB. Cheers wairnair; I just finished testing
![]() So, with QuickTime installed you can watch the Introduction. There are also extra video parts on the "Objectives" screen and the "Victory" screen: Objectives: ![]() ![]() Victory: ![]() ![]() As you say, now the game loads everytime, even after totally quitting / restarting WinUAE ![]() There are only 2 small downfalls with this new "StarterdiskQT.hfv" which are as follows:
![]() No big deal ![]() Anyway, off to build a final stand-alone .HDF. I'm also going to turn the "Game Speed" --> "Fastest" in the Preferences ![]() |

While it's not exactly fast I think it's still faster than 7.6.1. You could try disabling some Extensions. That can be done by moving them anywhere out of the Extensions folder.
Quote:
(this is automatically done on the compilation because of the read-only CD) It may also be disabled somehow, I don't know. |
