Terrible Fire Accelerators

You never need the FPU. Just the resistor under it to detection.

When I tried the TF520 I couldn't get it to work with any RAM expansions.

I’ve been working on this. Did you try the latest firmware I posted a few pages back.

I am not sure it’s possible to make it work reliably until you go past 21Mhz... simply down to the uncertainty that happens when you cross the clock domains.

I could hardcode state machines but that ties you to exact clock frequencies. :/

Weird, green means "error in the chip ram".

When diagrom wont even boot then check the AS20, DS20 and SIZ lines are wiggling on a scope.. then see if AS/UDS/LDS/DTACK wiggle at the 68000 socket.

If all look good then its an address bus / data bus short.

Ok, Got the Ram and IDE installed but would not boot unless I erased the ram CPLD. So I got adventures and programed the ram CLPD with the .JED from the master branch ( bus .jed is dev) and it booted, Even WB3.1, but no ram or Ide so I reverted back to the Dev version. holding both mouse button's on boot was not working. running a command on the Ram CPLD " Get device checksum " got the A1000 to boot but, still no ram or IDE. if I do this " procedure " while holding down both mouse buttons I get the boot screen. and I find several expansion boards all the same.

my uneducated guess is it's stuck in a loop detecting the Ide or ram and when I do the " procedure " it breaks the loop and lets the A1000 boot

Terrible Fire Accelerators

I’m gonna recommend you bring this up on an A500 if at all possible. I’ve no idea about the A1000 compatibility

Also mixing versions/revisions of bus and ram cpld is not something I can give any assistance with. I don’t support it because they work as a pair. Not individually.

Use the dev branch binaries.

Did DiagROM autoconfig work?

The problem was the Ram cpld! it was a " hot pull " so I replaced it with a new one. DiagROM did show 32 devices before I replaced it. Now only 2 show up, it boots all workbench version I have tried and the 2meg ram is displayed on the workbench. So I am one happy camper I still need to setup the Ide. Thank you Plasmab for the help! and for creating this project! it's been a learning, aggravating, and fun project!

I just soldered second TF520.. And guess what!? Same as first one - power led blinks CPU does restart cycles..
That lets me think some of the parts i am using are incorrect.. is this buffer the same as on the TF530? What about oscillators? Are these 3.3v or 5v?

Buffers the same, oscillators are 3.3V. What does DiagROM do?

EDIT cpld should be the same as the mux from a TF328... 9536XL

That reminds me, the X Window feature on those is really nice and (un)-surprisingly works easily on a modern machine.

Getting a working NIC on one not fitted with it as standard is fiddly though!
