That is how my Gotek is mounted, the question in my mind is where to put the display, so that it looks nice. |

Perhaps get one of those newly made A1200 cases? They have a cutout for the HxC display.

A quick question, I tried the display without the pullup resistors and it seems to work. Are the pullups then really necessary?
Update: When I finalized the cable from the Gotek to the display, I put them in there anyway, cant hurt. Last edited by Johan1973; 30 June 2016 at 15:03. |

Some pictures of my finished install. Now I need to make a bezel that covers a bit of that mounting, so it looks a lot better. Any suggestions for that?

Sadly no.
I tested a tiny 2x16 LCD display which worked like a charm in the past both with HxC SD and now with Gotek and a cheap I2C adapter (http://www.mfilos.com/2016/05/a600-r...c-sd-with.html) |

So I have 3 Goteks with the Cortex firmware. A few games has trouble with changing disks but I can work around this by using two Goteks and I cannot make a savegame in Cannon Fodder because Cortex does not support extended ADF. Can work around this by saving to a real external floppy drive.
Appart from the above mentioned, are there any benefits in going for the HXC firmware over Cortex for regular floppy gaming? Of course, had the HXC firmware for Gotek been out when I bought these Goteks I would have bought them with the HXC firmware. But I just don't know if the above mentioned things are enough for me to upgrade. Unless there are other major benefits |

HxC can support images of originals by converting IPF files. It will save properly while the Cortex won't do that properly even to plain DOS disks. HxC can be reconfigured for PC usage, Atari etc. if you want to use it with some other platform. With HxC you can connect a small LCD which can show the name of the image.
Just a few off the top of my head and well worth the cost if you ask me. |

I will only ever use them on Amiga anyway. I have little interest in connecting a LCD screen. I have printed out a list with almost 500 favourite game floppy images which I have assigned from slot 20 up to 500 +. So really easy and handy to just look at the list and select the game I want instead of going to the boot menu every time. |

I have some questions. I did the LCD MOD on my Gotek with HxC firmware for my TI.
I have a Cortex Firmware GoTek connected to my Amiga. Does the LCD mod work the same with the Cortex firmware as well? Or is the LCD functionality just an HxC feature? |

I think it will only work with the HXC firmware.

It does NOT work well with the HXC firmware on Gotek. By that i mean that the development is not finished see topic here from january 2015:
http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewt...hp?f=33&t=1613 Don't know if Jeff has time / want to finish the HFE format rev 2 support. E.g, i tried to play cannon fodder IPF version it does not work. For the LCD mod, i confirm it's possible only with HxC firmware Last edited by oissery77; 20 October 2016 at 17:40. |
