Well Gunnar said that they welcome new developers, so I guess they wouldn't disagree if someone with your technical documentation skills and an Amiga background joins in It was just an idea, because there are really very little hard facts about the current state of the project. So it wasn't a complete joke

Don't see this project coming to anything personally.
I mean, what company is going to be interested in something based on 10-20 year old technology? Even if the miraculous happens and a prototype is comleted - don't expect any company to touch it with a bargepole. The only thing it really has going for it is the promise of backwards compatibility - which in itself is a wild and dangerous claim. My initial thoughts on the Minimig were similar, but because of the cheap components, and the fact that the creator didn't publicise his work until it was 90% complete - the idea seemed feasible. And I am glad that project blossomed (although there haven't been any firmware updates for nearly 12mths). Nice mock-up screenshots on the Natami website though Dontcha just lurve a bit of vapour-ware? I reckon this thread needs a poll - Natami: Real or Pretend? |

That's a cash-inn on nostalgia and gaming!
A project like Natami is not aimed at something like that. Minimig could, with the promise of A500 games on a cut down version, but this is a pretentious project to try to make an Amiga computer replacement. Definitely not the same market as those DTV devices. |

There has been illuwatar and his Mini-ITX minimig, http://www.illuwatar.se/project_page...imig20-009.jpg and Yaqube with his drop in Pic replacement that has Hard file support. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=p-3zG4zE4qQ |

It'd be better (and easier) to just rework the 1200 design and incorporate some uptodate features that most people do with 1200's nowadays... i.e. indivision, usb, cd-rom, dual ide ports, built in 68060 etc... now THAT would be nice.... with technology on offer these days, with the size of the 1200 board you could fit lots of shizzle on it You could save a few bucks and just do it as a drop in replacement motherboard like those guys in australia did with the enhanced 1000 drop in motherboard they did |

I think we should be happy that someone is still prepared to do something for a dying community.
Encouraging not moaning is required. |

It must be terribly disheartening for the NatAmi development team to know that members of one of the main online communities for the Amiga platform are discussing this project with such contempt.

You're welcome, mate!
Incidentally, I first expressed my viewpoint in this post: http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=...&postcount=106 I dared not post that here for fear of being flamed (the mood here was particularly negative at the time ). |

Sorry to say that prowler, but if you follow this thread you'll see that there was a lot of encouragement at the start of the thread, but since there is no NatAmi right now and there are no facts that prove what they have achieved so far the 'tone' has changes. Like I said I really wish to see this happen, but I don't see why they don't show what they have done until now. So the basic idea is : With all the cheering, wouldn't it be possible to share some more about the project?

What goes around comes around. You should have seen how a certain quite dubious member of the NatAmi team "discussed" with people who gave him constructive feedback.

I still say that the statement I made earlier is the main cause of these misunderstandings. Last edited by prowler; 24 January 2009 at 00:54. Reason: Added quote. |

I'm all for the project - I don't mean to sound negative... but when there's no updates or progression and the thing is more than half a year late what can folk do apart from wonder if it'll ever come to fruitation
