Didn't read every page of replies so don't know if its been mentioned, but the St version of ninja turtles arcade is a lot better on ST.
Looks similar, but is faster and more responsive. Makes it a lot more playable. |

Are there much similarities / differences between the games? If they are almost identical I imagine it would be easier to fix the Amiga version than port the ST version.

the music works in the ST version. It does not in the Amiga version. There is an awful echo in the SFX in TMNT2 amiga, never mind the music that were disactivated due to the slowness of the game (they made the engine for it to run on ST, and porting (humhum) on Amiga => shit result.

Don't quote me on it, but if memory serves correctly the Amiga version is a straight ST port, but based on an earlier version of the ST code, so it suffers more in comparison than the usual discrepancy in clock speed.

Games like Shadow Warriors and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade got in-game music and SFX in the AtariST versions, but not on the Amiga.
It is a shame. |

Hmm just played both versions back to back, the Amiga version doesn't suffer the same slowdown as the ST version when there are loads of enemies on screen, that seems to speed up as you pick them off.
Dunno if it was a bad Amiga crack but I got to the bit on level 2 where you are supposed to start scrolling down and it didn't, it just stayed there after I cleared off the enemies at the end of the street. The ST crack I tried failed on level 3. Not that I would buy an ST or Amiga for either myself, just saying. |

One game I'd like to see converted to the Amiga is Moon Patrol, when I was little I played it a lot in the arcade.
The Atari ST has good graphics but gameplay isn't so good. |

My comments were about ST vs Amiga port of Turtles arcade. I played it on MAME first to see the benchmark. I didn't see a massive difference between the two, and both crashed/were buggy.
Again with Turtles arcade the Amstrad got a much better port on the 8bit Amstrad than the C64 (which is VERY sluggish and has hardly any use of Color RAM so looks a bit too Acorn Electron sometimes). |

You're right, an Amiga version of Moon Patrol would be awesome. AmiCo console was suppose to get a modern version but that system never shipped and I heard the German Dev is out of business now.

I saw some of this, but ST monochrome games in general have the advantage of resolution over some (many) equivalent Amiga versions. Many of the ST mono games actually render at the 640x400 (vs upscaling), and do so smoothly. Of course no color, but just a different take.. also the 72 hz was easier on the eyes.
