Such a funny thread..

So, using a mediocre looking character, from some shitty game in the past, is today a stealing? How much pixels that character was? 16x16? What if I change color of 8 pixels in that same character?
And some of you feel that Capcom would care about it?

If we go that route, then Tolkien is guilty of stealing northern mythology, Eab is guilty of stealing the forum style, and coders are guilty of stealing some codes.

I understand if it was mario character, but man, this is some dinosaur 16x16 px things, that I've seen everywhere.
What was that Gameboy game that had very similar character?

But, in that EAB collection, if you steal one mediocre 16x16px character, from some mediocre game, of course I wouldn't care.

Well, that's called double standards. How many pixels am I allowed to rip off before you consider it stealing?

And maybe you haven't noticed, but pretty much all graphics in the game were ripped off from elsewhere, without proper credit given. But I'm guessing that's ok too, because the resolution is only 320x256, so it shouldn't matter?

You're correct about that.
I haven't really paying attention, and don't know if the all graphics were ripped, if they are, that's very bad.
I just saw arguing about that Bubble Bubble (that Capcom ripped), and wanted to see what hus is all about. Why everyone attacking people reaping something that is being ripped?

It's still copyright infringement. And I'm not arguing about the character, but rather the pixel art itself. You can't just take the pixel art, do a color reduction and claim YOU made it.

Care to give any evidence of them ripping off the actual pixel art? Taking inspiration and actually copying the pixel art itself are two very different things.

You're correct about that.
I haven't really paying attention, and don't know if the all graphics were ripped, if they are, that's very bad.

I don't believe Capcom even used it for inspiration. I see very little resemblance between the two characters.
