Well, it's not perfect as yet given that "Mad Dog McCree" and "Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold" don't work properly for me at the moment in v4.3.0.

Anyway, maybe some of you guys who use my collection can now have a bash and see if you can work out / fix the issues.

More heads are better than one and all that

I tried the AML Games and my results were similar to yours. Gallagher's Gallery Works perfect with latest version of WinUAE.

Mad Dog 1 & 2 does not work with latest version of WinUae (Games Start but no Corsshair won't shoot), although they do work with the older version of WinUAE you provided.

I also found the crosshair was off center every time you shoot in Mad Dog 1 & 2 as well.

I tried the laser games and

WinUAE 4.3.0

Gallagher's Gallery and the 2 Mad Dog games do not work

WinUAE 4.2.1

Gallagher's Gallery and the 2 Mad Dog games do not work

However, I noticed on my PC FFMpeg video and audio has been loaded and tries to play the video files for some reason... If I load, play, press F12, then load another game, I can hear the Mad Game audio playing:

"Hi, you are new in town, ..."

Maybe somehow the video files are passing through to the Windows?

Will do a run down of older WinUAE and see what happens.

Edit ---

WinUAE 4.2.0 down to 3.6.1 same problems, none of the above 3 games work but there are no pass through to FFMpeg issues.

3.6.0 kinda works.

Gallagher's Gallery - loads to title screen
Maddog 1 - skips the movies but hangs
Maddog 2 - skips the movies but takes forever to load to the title screen.

Appreciate you testing also Valken

As mentioned previously, I can get "Gallagher's Gallery" working in v4.3.0, just not "Mad Dog McCree" or "Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold":

Hi Damien,

If you have ideas of how we can help test with builds and settings, let me know. Kids are great beta testers!!!

Tested MDM, MDMII with Damians config. For me with 4.3.0 cannot shoot at all. Mouse movement works.
GG works fine with 4.3.0.

Will try MDM with older WinUAE

I don't know why the developers did this, it's a bit silly.

On the "Extra Memory Detected and Used" screen, wait until disk activity has stopped and then press the <Fire Button> to continue.

Now that Toni has released the next line of WinUAE betas; which has the following fix for ALG games:
Quote:

I've now corrected / re-uploaded the package

Please follow these instructions:
  • If you downloaded / extracted the previous package, delete the video files "Gallagher's Gallery [LaserDisc].avi", "Mad Dog McCree [LaserDisc].avi", and "Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold (Italian) [LaserDisc].avi" from "C:\WinUAE\Videos". I've now moved these into "C:\WinuAE\Games\<gamedir>".
  • Download the following package from here and extract into "C:\WinUAE".
  • Download the "WinUAE 4.3.1 (Public Beta 0, 2020.02.29).zip" from The Zone! and extract into "C:\WinUAE".
  • Download the attached "WinUAE_registry.zip" and apply the registry file.
Note that I've also created .NVR files for each game so you don't need to calibrate the gun.

If anyone can make better ones for "Mad Dog McCree" and "Mad Dog II: The Lost Gold" that are centered then that would be much appreciated; I didn't have any luck.
Attached Files
File Type: zip WinUAE_registry.zip (3.2 KB, 305 views)

I done all of the above, seems to be working only with the gun alignment now the only problem..

I tried calibrating the gun off center and it seems during calibration screen it is spot on..

Calibrating off center

100% alignment after calibrating

In game it is better then before aligning but still not 100%

in game

It might just be that sweet spot of a pixel in gun calibration to make it work 100%

That's a lot better than my attempts ransom1122

Can you upload the updated .NVR files with this gun calibration saved please?

Don't worry ransom1122, your first screenshot was all I needed

I'll play around tonight and see if I can get any better, if not then I'll use exactly what you've found out

Many, Many thanks to DamienD for all his hard work and years of toil and the download. Couple of days via MegaDownload Manager and a simple unpack had it running straight away. No configs, no paths, just unpack and run

I wanted to have this pack added to my RetroFE based BarTop cabinet and even that was pretty simple, knowing how RetroFe works helped and knowing what configs to what and how

If anybody uses RetroFE or similiar such as LaunchBox or even HyperSpin (my bartop was originally Hyperspin but that's a LOT of work to set-up and took me months even via RocketLauncher). Moving over to RetroFe meant understanding how that worked and yet more effort

The end result after creating the files in RetroFE and adding the game videos and logos then the launch command for WinUAE every game works perfectly ... first time. Amazing effort and work

I did change a couple of things in the .uae configs. NotePad++ and its replace in files option made this an absolute breeze

use_gui=no is very important as the GUI loads and waits for input. Turn this off loads the game instantly

I also disabled scanlines, I personally don't like them but a lot do for that 'retro' CRT look

I added disk sounds for disk loading and disabled the on screen LEDs except drive icons so I can see and hear disks loading when the screen goes blank and you know its still loading

Simple config for Retro launcher is :

Settings.conf :

list.path = X:\RetroFE\emulators\CommdoreAmiga-WinUAE\Configurations
list.includeMissingItems = false
list.extensions = uae
list.menuSort = yes

launcher = Commodore Amiga

launcher :

executable = X:\RetroFE\emulators\CommdoreAmiga-WinUAE\WinUAE.exe
arguments = -f "%ITEM_FILEPATH%"

Thats all I added and had it up and running in 5 minutes, just needed tweaking and set-up the controls in the cabinet as I have a set-up on the desktop PC to test then copy onto my BarTop USB drive as the entire RetroFE runs off a portable 2TB USB drive with eth main boot drive has nothing but windows on it. Makes updating much much easier

Woo-hoo!!! I found the sweet spot

Both MDM games are now pretty much perfect in-game.

Here's a screenshot of where you need to aim the gun when calibrating:

So, please just download / extract the attached into "C:\WinUAE"

I guess about 10 minutes of trial and error / slight adjustments with "Mad Dog II - The Lost Gold".

Once I had that, it took me 2 x attempts in "Mad Dog McCree"

Heya steptoe,

Many thanks for taking the time to provide feedback, it's appreciated

...and glad to hear that you got everything running on your BarTop cabinet via RetroFE; without too much trouble

Enjoy!!!
