I have seen very few comments directed at DJP personally, the criticisms are of charging a subscription.

So, it appear I am guilty of being Serbian... lol..

I will happily accept that guilt!
He sounds a delightful stable individual....

I noticed that his comments in particular were a little too mean.

I tried to call him out for it in the comments to David's post, pointed out that he's the one looking like the the arsehole but he doesn't seem to care

Obviously an angry little man with nothing better to do. He doesn't seem to active anywhere. One post in the Commodore Amiga FB group. I checked if he's a member of anything I admin, as was going to boot him, but he's not luckily.

It's all good an we'll being against this but it's obvious in the community that those who had prior beef with DJP are using this for their own crusade.

While we disagree with DJP about this initiative that's all it is and should be.

As the Kickstarter breaks their terms by including a raffle prize (it's on their list of prohibited items), people can always just report it and hope it gets taken down.

It's never going to hit the goal anyway though.

Not hitting the goal shows a complete disconnect between DP and the community, hopefully it will result in a rethink of his strategy, for his own benefit.

Your English is better than many native speakers online, so don't sweat that.

If a discussion about a minor drama in a niche vintage computer community that literally nobody outside of that particular bubble knows or cares about is met with references to historical genocide, just block and move on.

There are issues of perspective that simply aren't worth your time trying to navigate.

Yeah, I know.. don't worry mate.. I am not upset a tiny bit.. and still proud to be a Serbian.

I just wanted to expose him.. separate him from the vast majority of people that have valid criticism about Aga project...
.. and oh boy I did it with more success then I anticipated... his personal attack on nationality spoke best for him.

About English, I remember this meme lol.

Let's hope so. The kickstarter lost another backer since yesterday.

I had a private messengerconversation with David yesterday where I told him that the best thing to do IS to cancel it..

at the conversation (that I had to jump out of due to familystuff (read: check a movie)) I did not get the feeling he "got the message" really but hopefully afterwards he was thikning and it had some kind of impact.. that cancel this kickstarter was the only correct way to go before it got ugly.. (or. well more ugly)

Good idea The guy behind Boing Directory just posted this on Mastodon:

I need your help, so retoot if possible!

With a lot of reddit going dark, I think it's a good time to resurrect the old fashioned forum.

I've repurposed the boingdirectory code to make a big list of #RetroComputing and Console forums.

https://retroforum.directory

Please let me know if there's any forums to add (Note: Facebook Groups, Discord Servers and Reddits are not going to be added - Sorry!)

It's WIP, and it's lacking stuff, but I thought I'd post to get feedback before I've finished

Writing as somebody who usually does not have the most sunny view on anything, I view the Amiga history as not a tragedy, but as an unsteady contiguous improvement. Could have gone better, for sure, but what makes the difference is not the hardware and what it could have enabled, but the people who grew up with and around it. Who needs nostalgia? When have things ever been like we think they used to be.

The point I was trying to make is that today's Internet has changed so much from the early days, in which curated content was the norm (because we did not have search engines yet), that information which is not as structured and ready-made for automated consumption and indexing will fall short for content that currently is available for the Amiga. Our online forums, web sites and archives are still there, but indexing their content is shallow at best. If there has to be better access, it would have to come from what, by necessity, used to work: curating content.
dude. It was sarcasm.
