@koobo Just saw another minor issue files with loooong filenames, their information/name doesnt get clipped to the inside of the string gadget its inside of, the name spills over the edge. usual screenshot included where you can just about see " - C" spilling over the gadget border.

I've also noticed that the past-me was a bit lazy. For example, the kick2.0 prop gadgets have this 3d-kind of look. There's no reason why the same visualization could not be used on kick1.3 too (Lazy #1). The things needed are kick1.3 specific graphics, which is not too much trouble.
  • Lazy #2: The prop gadget knobs do not provide feedback when activated on kick2+. Can be fixed with a one-liner.
  • Lazy #3: The RMB activated buttons did not provide any feedback when activated (this was already fixed in v2.46).
  • Lazy #4: Font support on kickstart 1.3 was disabled, even though making it work is just a small fix.
It's a rainy morning so I've managed to fix all the above mentioned lazy points!
It looks beautiful, thank you for this! Looking forward to the next release.

I feel a bit silly by reporting this, because it's such a small thing, so please ignore this if you think I'm being a pain.

In the 'about' text, the alignment of the HiP version is off one character. This could easily be resolved by just using 2 chars for months, like 13.07.2022 instead of 13.7.2022...

Alright, here's one that might be more worth of mentioning (still no biggy, mind you).

It's possible to add files that don't exist by doing the following:
  1. click 'new' or 'add'
  2. enter anything you like as a filename
  3. click OK
  4. the non-existing file appears in the filebox
  5. double-clicking it will output "Error opening file!"
Maybe you could check for file existence before adding it to the filebox?

What if you add several directories to the list that could contain thousand of files. Would it also check the files for existence? That could be delay the operation a lot (need to be verified).

It would be enough to check for the file that is entered in the filename textbox. If you select a dir, it's not possible to enter an invalid name.

I have plenty of files on my modules directory.
There's also files of other format, some pictures
and text files, for example.
I must tell you that I used to add those "non-pure"
drawers to HippoPlayer's playlist; sometimes not
deleting the extraordinary, non-music files.
If I used the random play setting of HP;
which I use a lot; sometimes using those long playlists
led to a system crash.
It could be anything; but if the similar kind of system failure
happened a couple of times similarly,
I began to think it must be something with the general file format management /
recognition of HP, and/or the filenames.
The version of Hippoplayer was the "old", kind of legendary (!?) 2.47.

been listening to loads of mp3's, but also a LOT of mods recently, 1 thing thats making me a bit OCD is that I am listening on headphones and various tunes sounded great on a tv but now i hear them on stereo headphones its a bit annoying hearing some instruments kinda overly loud and obvious in only 1 ear as other quieter instruments are doing their thing in your other ear, you end up with a bit of an imbalance.

Is there a way to play back MOD's so all 4 channels are played as usual but also with a copy of the channels mixed in which are flipped, that way (using headphones at least) we could hear each channel in both ears so that stereo would sound a bit better.... maybe.

Normal Channels:
1 2 3 4

Mixed Channels:
1 2 3 4
4 3 2 1

Basically so you hear each sample/channel in both ears.

Does that even make sense? would that even sound good? my brain says maybe, but i'm not sure.

hmm, if thats a thing and in effect, it seems inbalanced, as i cant tell any difference, still hearing specific sounds/instruments in 1 side.

If you use S:HippoPlayer.PS3M file and it is activated under the PS3M page it will overwrite the settings you made in HippPrefs. For testing you should not select the "Use S:HippoPlayer.PS3M configuration file" setting. You may read the HiP.guide (PS3M section at least). What should work (at least here it does):

Play mode = Surround

Click Use and load/play a supported module format. Then go back to PS3M and change the value for:

Stereo level (0 to 100%)

Now you should hear the differences in real time.

Via the process of elimination try that exchange clone and perhaps some others on aminet if the 1 linked also crashes, at least you can deduce if exchange is your issue or something else.

Maybe start another thread with either video or pictures of your setups visible issues followed by a list of stuff you have installed, mostly patches/os hacks etc so we could all narrow down the list of possible issues.

I removed my icon link of Exchange from my wb desktop screen.
I stopped using it; to narrow down the problem.
Shame the Magic-Exchange program appears to be German only.
A little difficult to use, if you don't speak any German.
Maybe English language could be added to Magic-Exchange in future !?

I also removed some file from my eFlash card; and modified my
Startup-sequence.

I used the HippoPlayer to play some .ahx tunes with random play option;
about 1 hour.
The playlist was "clean" and consisted of about a dozen tunes.
No problems occured.

yeah tried all that, nothing changes, maybe its because im using emulation? im getting zero difference in winuae and fs-uae, tried both stereo options and moved that slider all over and not a peep of difference. might have to setup my chameleon fpga and give that a try later.

@daxb & Disasterincarna

Ok, I'll have to re-check the version I downloaded from Aminet ! (?!)

I'm afraid the version I got from Aminet is an older one (!?).
Any link to download the version 1.27 ..?!

https://aminet.net/package/util/cdity/mexch127

Install, change its tooltip from CX_POPUP=NO to CX_POPUP=YES to have it appear like normal exchange, otherwise it iconifies on launch and needs a double click to open.

I don't know about emulation. PS3M is not supported by all module formats. So, make sure you have selected one that is supported by PS3M. For Protracker modules there is a separate config option that needs to be activated. Then at least mono should be mono = left = right.

hmm, i was trying protracker mods as many of them are obvious if the effect would work or not. whats the extra step for PT mods? according to the original guide, PT mods are listed as supported for the PS3M feature?
