Now with the V4 maybe the problems will be solved, we wait for the first tests to confirm full compatibility.

Please, don't spread incompatibility rumors if you haven't experienced them.

We have been running LW5 FPU since GOLD2.7 (2018-03-02) on V2.

Maybe we talk about LightWave 3.x. if I remember well LightWave 5.x requires FPU, TuKo in your scheme there is not LightWave 5.x, LightWave 3.x works even without FPU.

Indeed it's 3.5, then have a look at this video and its description :

If you had followed your own let-me-google-that-for-you link, you would have noticed that the first two results are videos showing LW5 running on the Vampire.

You really take the first prize in making a fool out of yourself...

grond, you probably haven't translated well, I'm talking about LightWave v5.0 or higher, the one shown in my video.

You probably haven't read well. Those videos do show LightWave v5.0 running on the Vampire.

Well, it means that there have been steps forward compared to the first info read, however it has been used FPU software "Femu"

In the LMGTFY links, the first video (from Manuel Jesus) is using FEMU. The second one (From Cotter's Stuff) is not. There's no way it could be faster than a 68060 and still be using FEMU.

Yeah I think the important thing to remember here is that the Vampire being FPGA based is constantly being upgraded. So if something doesn’t work today doesn’t mean it won’t tomorrow and so forth. That’s different than an ASIC based solution where an 060 is an 060 and always will be - any bugs you just have to live with forever and work around ... not so with the Vampire.

So yeah maybe at the time the whole FPU issues was true but as we are seeing now it no longer is the case. That’s why it is important to verify any thoughts with current situation to see if it’s still an issue or not.

Perhaps we can learn a valuable lesson for the future.

Saying that 'something doesn't work' VS asking 'does it work' makes a world of difference when trying to have a healthy discussion, and makes it more likely to get a friendly response

Just a heads up. Vesalia is now taking pre-orders for the Vampire V4 Standalone with a price indication of €499

Edit: and also for the V1200 at €449

@jbilander: nice design, mate.
I like the use of the Bodoni font (original Amiga font) for the Vampire engraved text and the little groove for the logo sticker.
I’d get one if it can be made.

Thanks, sure, I'll make it publicly available once I've done a trial printout and verified everything fits correctly, will maybe do some small changes, but before that I need to get all the correct dimensions so I can design for connector cutouts...so will have to wait until I get my hands on a V4 Standalone and then start measure it with a digital caliper.

Ha, my friends were giving me shit because I bought a digital caliper for measuring out 3D designs for the 3D printer. Yes, it does have to be pretty precise, otherwise you get things like the SDMax drive for the Atari 8-bit, where if you don't pay attention, you'll slip the microSD into the case and not into the actual microSD slot (done it twice now).

Awesome work.

I have three questions for you about Vampire Standard and V4 Standalone.

- Does FFPlay work on the Vampire?

- Can NetSurf by Arti display Youtube videos in MP4 format?

- AfA OS, can AmikitX be installed on the Vampire?
