Success! I managed to write dlfrsilver's Twin World image back to disk, and the game runs fine on an Amiga 500. First I used a hd floppy, and something with the sounds was messed up; for instance when you shot it kept beeping. Next I tried a dd floppy, and now it works.

Thanks for your help, Boo Boo.

Thats great - DF1 is working ok?
When you get a chance can you test with your cyclone cartridge.

Yes, df1 is fine. I don't think the cyclone cartridge is functioning properly with Powercopy; I can't make an image of Turrican 2 (which has long tracks). I starts reading track 0, but never finishes (ABORT doesn't work).

However, I made an image of Apprentice which seems to be working fine. Uploaded it to the Zone

Apprentice was uploaded 2 days ago by Denis...

His PC000...159 files are much more "coherent" (same length, more or less), so his dump is better. But hey, don't be discouraged, you just started using Powercopy.

EDIT: Boo Boo's AR3 dumps seem to work correctly (great work, Boo Boo!). We are still eagerly waiting for a full beautifully cracked version by Galahad or StingRay

Yes apprentice is protected by MFM tracks, but not longtracks. and it uses $4489 as sync.

no problem ! Just use Pinball dreams as IPF under winuae, with the parameter file related.

This game uses very long tracks $19xx !

Hi Denis, are your Powercopy saves (those ones uploaded to The Zone) obtained from .ipf files (under WinUAE, as I do) or from your real floppies (on your real A1200)?
In the second case, have you some games not yet SPS'ed/ipf'ed?

I'm interested! I'm a mad collector .

Unless, since you bought them original, you don't want to share them (in that case I would understand you) for any reason.

Ok hows about something a bit easyer.
Im not saying this will work.

dlfrsilver have you tried with your wire only Cyclone -Speed On?
Those old wire only cartridges could be very effective and probably not that hard to assemble.

@AmigaFan can you test Ive found my Cyclone but I cant find by external drive
Ill post some pics of the cyclone and its guts later.

I dont know how hard it would be to make a PowerCopy cartridge but it could be realy effective for writeing back more IPFs on a real amiga.

I put the 1-disk version of Katakis into the Zone. It's an R-Type clone (requires OCS).

Errrm. This is a GAL, you know? A GAL (generic array logic) is a some kind of "empty chip". You fill it with logic by programming it once. So you can have two identical GALs on two devices doing very different things... So... even if PowerCopy had the same GAL - no way...

In theory the way the copy is done is the same for all programs - simply switch some wires. But how this is implemented using a GAL and which flopyy commands (read: lines) are wiggled to turn the chip on or off is the programmer's decision.

Still have MANY of the old Cyclone adapters without chip, which should work if you simply want to go for a copy, but this would require PowerCopy to accept it. Geoff offered to remove the copy protection, so he could as well enable using the old Cyclone hardware. Did I already say that I have MANY of them still left?

Best,
Chris

O well it was worth a try - Because the Disk protection has been skipped I wondered if PowerCopy would then take advatage of any cartridge.
If only your old stash of Cyclones could be put to good use
