Hello again all Amix friends. Any Amix-related project progress recently?
I managed to buy an A2065 network card for my 3000T, and I today I finally had time to install it into my machine. I even got it working, and it was easier than I had feared. I connected my Mac mini to my 3000T (ethernet cable and a 10BaseT Transceiver connected to the DB15 AUI connector on the A2065), started internet sharing on the Mac and created the two hosts file in amixadm. Now the machines could ping each other. 'mail' and 'wall' worked, 'talk' didn't, I got "Sorry, I don't know anything about your "xterm-256color" terminal" :P I also managed to rlogin into my Amix from my Mac's terminal. Didn't have time to try any file transfers, but I thought it was cool to have the machines talk to each other. |

For some reason Kermit TRAPs my 3000T if anything bigger than a text file is attempted to transfer... weird.
I had a quick go trying to use FTP. I managed to connect and log in into my networked Mac. I used ftpd-enable to do an FTP share since Yosemite no longer offers FTP shares thrue Preferences. There is still something amiss, for directory or transfer commands all I got is "200 PORT command succesful", but nothing more. Then I have to CTRL+C out. Is this something to do with the Amix's ancient FTP software? |

it probably can't do passive mode. there's scp available I think on the amix site, might be worth a try using that (in the openssh package). Or wget...

I'm afraid AMIX no longer appears able to function in WinUAE 3.0 and 3.1-beta... The kernel crashes very early on with one of those lovely cryptic messages. I've tested this in Win8.1 pro in VMWare Player... can anyone else reproduce this?

Works for me. Correct method is to test with known working version before asking
I have noticed AMIX filesystem self-destructs quite easily if system is not properly shut down. |

My bad, forgot to turn on MMU support...
Anyway, next question: how do you get a hires A2024 screen in stock Amix 2.1c (instead of using the X11R5 distro for Picasso boards & friends)? edit: solved. Select A2024 screen when installing AMIX. olinit or xinit will start into a 1024x800 (NTSC) or 1024x1024 (PAL) screen, actually giving you a decent screen res. Seems a bit faster than 640x480 strangely enough... I can't find a way with the config tools to specify what monitor is connected though. Last edited by Noth; 18 May 2015 at 22:17. |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiga-A2410-...item2c9b3954da Look how much this A2410 went for! I hope it was for someone deserving, like a software porter to AMIX.

The more there is information available about the board, like chip datasheet, register information etc, the bigger the chance of something happening. (Exact same happened with HAM-E and others, I got help with specs/driver disassemby etc..!) MMU also happened simply because someone else did the framework first. I rarely bother to research information about uninteresting hardware. It does not mean I am not interested in emulating it. EDIT: Also (driver) software that uses the board and works in plain m68k AmigaOS is needed. Last edited by Toni Wilen; 26 May 2015 at 15:35. |

Yeah I got round to reading the documentation but didn't update. Thanks. Since you're around, you wouldn't have a working netbsd/openbsd XF86Config for PicassoII / CL5426 would you? I'm messing with OpenBSD32/amiga right now.

I am grateful that MMU was implemented. If it was not implemented, we would have never got a chance to emulate a genuine A3000 or A4000, and this thread would not exist.

Interesting... Found a couple of revisions of a Workbench side Berkeley FFS on Aminet called BFFS. Apparently it allows read/write access on UFS partitions setup in Amix and should allow to access NetBSD and OpenBSD ones too. Could make file transfer (if you really can't get SLiRP working ) easier. It's a bit intensive to get working from what I can see, requires very good knowledge of writing Amiga Mountlists. Still, it does come with a port of Amix's rdb to the Amiga OS and a bunch of other utils for checking and creating partitions. Looks like I have a weekend project...
You can find the latest release here: http://aminet.net/misc/emu/bffs.lha P.S: We really need a forum subsection for all this... Please support my post requesting it! |

Thanks! I'll upload a dualboot amiga OS 2.1 / Amix 2.1c & a 3.1 / OpenBSD hdf when I've got some kind of working setup. I tend to add GeekGadgets + KingCON to my setups, just to have that UNIX feel. Bought Cloanto's "just about complete" collection of workbench disks today.

Hi everyone,
I have a question - how to mount AMIX tape properly in order to read from it during installation? I have tried to mount it as tar.bz2, zip, tar and as unpacked folder but with no luck. Any suggestions? |

If anyone's interested, I have re-packaged the install media for Amiga UNIX 2.01, 2.03 and 2.1 and uploaded them to my Uploads directory on the EAB file server. The 2.03 tape contains the error-free files by mark_k.
There you'll also find a empty RDF image with the right size for a decently sized installation and release notes PDFs for a couple of releases which I've created from the TROFF sources that were either part of the installation or posted to Usenet by Commodore employees. I'd recommend using 2.1 with the latest patches applied - the older versions tend to be a bit unreliable (at least in WinUAE). The archive with the empty RDF image contains a text file with the suggested partitioning scheme for the image. Only use ufs instead of s5 partitions. Have fun! |

Amix + A2410 is working ("olinit -- -tiga")
Not sure if it works 100% correctly. (white background + white cursor seems odd) |

I haven't tried it in AMIX yet - I found it odd the res is 1024x768. Wasn't it supposed to be 1024x1024?
