Works well on the ACA-1232, thanks!
Installed CMQ030 to speed up CopyMem and CopyMemQuick functions as suggested in the readme. Also have mmu.library running with ACA friendly settings (thanks mfilos) First I got the "cant open the page file" message in 'ERROR.TXT' like others in this thread, but turns out it was just a misunderstanding (not the wrong retail release in my case). After doing the .WL6 extraction using WolfExtractor I got the notion that those files weren't needed anymore (eg. like deleting zip files after extracting), turns out they are needed, at least VSWAP.WL6, because it worked after I copied the *.WL6 files back into the AmiWolf directory. I'm also impressed that AmiWolf is system friendly, works fine to run AmiTCP, AmIRC against several servers, Dopus, browser with many tabs open, and more, while playing AmiWolf, didn't notice any impact on performance. Not sure if needed in my case, but commented out the 'CLOSE_WB' ToolType because it felt right. |

Back in 1994 when both Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny had been released a company called FormGem released two standalone packs called Mission 2: Return to Danger and Mission 3: Ultimate Challenge. Icidentally mission 1 is essentially Spear of Destiny but it was never named as such. Missions 2 and 3 continue the story fom Spear and are now called the Lost Episodes, mainly because they sold in very low numbers and their existence is not widely known. Each mission pack consists of 21 levels, new level textures, new enemies, and new appearances for old enemies.
I had both these mission packs on an old hard drive and decided to try them out on AmiSpear, although I really didn’t expect them to work. To do this I simply copied a mission pack’s data files and overwrote the ones in the AmiSpear folder. I then launched Spear and to my surprise it worked flawlessly. I dis the same for the other mission pack and it also worked. I then spent a long time playing each without any problems. AmiWolf and AmiSpear really are excellent source ports and these two mission packs make the Wolfenstein experience even better. I salute you NovaCoder for all your brilliant work on the Amiga! If anyone is interested in the missions I will happily put them in the Zone ready to go! Both Return to Danger and the Ultimate Challenge should now be in the Zone. I have also Zoned high quality PDF manuals for Wolf and Spear along with some other stuff. I also tried to add the official Wolfenstein 3D hint book, but at 40MB it was well beyond what was allowed. Is there anyway around this limatation?
Hope you enjoy both games! |

Anyone knows where I can download a nice icon for AmiWolf? I am playing it with WinUAE...
For some reason the nice icon that come with goldrunner mods is displayed with strange colors. @goldrunner Thanks. I hope its not late to say, that about the 40 MB limit, you can upload the file to the fileserver to overcome it. According to the log file, AmiSpear complains about a missing sound file (071.wav), but when I extract all the files (using the delivered WolfExtractor) there is no 071.wav in the sfx folder. Is this because I have one of the "unsupported" versions? Apart from that missing file issue everything runs fine.

Glad the new version is working well for you I didn't like how the mouse was working in the old version (not very smooth on my 060) so I made it time dependent (now it works like the keyboard movement). Don't worry about the missing WAV file, I think I just stole the one from my AmiWolf directory. Don't forget to use the 'enhanced' music pack for AmiSpear and AmiWolf, it sounds much better than generating the MUS files yourself |

There were some 'enhanced' music files for this game floating around somewhere which are a lot better than the original ones I made for the game. |
