Just tried it, but the problem seems to be if I have a partion in early part of the drive, it dosn't show on desktop, it's like there's a bad sector or something early on the drive, I'll wait till the 4 gig one turns up and I'll have another go.

Thams in advance!!!!
Wouldnt know about the IDE Card reader but using the CF adapter Converter you may be able to use other cards with the PCMCIA Compact flash reader.
see link

Code:

I was actually thinking of the SD to Compact Flash adapter, the size of a Compact flash with a Slot in the side for the SD card. This may work using the other internal IDE connectors
like this 1,

hey there! Zetro, i already posted you a PM about this issues but as i found new information about it, it may be useful to share the info with the board....

from lemonamiga forums, some users pretend that even if hdtoolbox pretends to be able to change the maxtransfer settings, it is not ! (maybe only for a few cf cards?)...they even link to a patched version of hdtoolbox (finally put my hands on it - in the zone)..(no docs included just the exe file)...

i may try this (no time for this right now) as i seem to get the exact same issues i had with my regular hd when maxtransfer was set too high!!

Do you mean this patch?

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/HDToolBoxPatch

or this?

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/hdinst

Also forgot to mention, by Flash drive is a Sansdisk 1MG, newish, seems to work fine as a device to transfer files from one Amiga to another. What should the max transfer be set to? As the last page is different setting to those on the the first page?

STILL not got the 4 gig one, but I'll try it again when that turns up, in fact I may to get one for the A600 as I've now got an accelerator for it!!

from the FAQ :
How do I get access to the zone? Easy, you just need to join the 'Access - The Zone!' group.
To join:
1) Click on 'User CP' (top left of screen)
2) Click on 'Group Memberships' (bottom left under Miscellaneous)
3) Then Click 'Join Group'

most safe value for maxtransfer is 0x1fe00 (as it does not affect transfer rate anyway...)

Excellent!

But I'm just trying formating the CF using AMIGAOS4, then booting up the 1200, if that dosn't work I'll try that.

Hello dudes,
I'm having a weird problem with a solid state drive I purchased off ebay recently. To be specific this card precisely. I partitioned this drive with hdinsttools, and made three SFS partitions. And I installed wb 3.1 there from floppies with no problems. Then the next logical step, is to install cf drivers, and that's where my problems began.

I installed fat95 and cfd as I always did, and could use my cf card in the pcmcia port. But when I transfer something from the pcmcia port to SSDisk, it gets corrupted. I tried to copy system.zip file from cf to dh0: . Sometimes it just hangs. Sometimes it seems to copy it, but when I run classic workbench install, it says corrupt zip file.

I tried playing with some settings, maxtransfer - mask and blocksize. They didn't help much. When I copy a file, it seems the right size, but it looks like two blocks are missing on the SSDisk for example. I can copy from pcmcia port to ram: and df0: with no problems. But copying from these locations to SSDisk still produces problems.

I'm using a blizzard 1230MKIV accelerator with 16mb ram. What could be wrong with my SSDrive (or my setup) ?

I just solved my problem. I had to reduce max_transfer to 0x0000FFFF ! Now nothing gets corrupted though performance degraded to a normal 2.5 hdd solution well at least, no heat or noise.

@coze

leave the mask, just the setting for the mask transfer as

"0x1fe0000", this setting works flawlessly on all the CF and adapter I have here, some might need to drop an octet to "0x1fd000" or to the point of very low transfer block sizes, (just means a little more work when the ide is requesting data) if "0x1fe0000" doesn`t work then I would suggest "0x1ee0000" and keep droping from there i.e. "0x1de0000 or 0x1ce0000".

this is using the regular HD install tools on either 3.0 / 3.1 or 3.5

hope it helps buddy.

thanks zetro .... now I played with my thing for a while and I noticed it doesn't like the FFFFFFFF mask. I get random corruptions/crashes with anything xFFFF and a proper max transfer (01fe0000). I had to reduce max transfer to FFFF for reliable operation. BUT changing the mask to FFFFFF00, I could use bigger masks like 1fe0000. It seems ok right now with a few files I've tried.

The "0x1fe0000" value, is still a work in progress, there will undoubltly be more effcient methods, a member here *Shrub* whom i haven`t seen in a while was the first i knew to realise this value else false errors would constantly popup as you know.

but there as they say "there are many ways to skin a shoonay " some have reported that these value works fine for average file sizes but BIG file sizes there are stil false errors / checksums. so it may require teaking
