Are we sure that those SINGE files line up with real laserdiscs, they look like it's for convenience sake in many cases. If the video is there though and works...
I haven't forgotten about Mad Dog, It's just I'm trying to edit the sound as for some reason the DVD has the frames in the wrong order, and a dubbed on gunshot for no good reason. |

Just FYI, a friend has managed to find a laserdisc of Mad Dog McCree 2 in English and rip it, but it might be a week or two before they can get around to uploading it.

I've found a low res (i.e on a CD-ROM) of Mad Dog 1 - it does have all the frames though. I'm going to try to use it to construct something a bit easier to use, but still viewable. I'd like to see if those SINGE files do match up though, if the person who made them was working from original discs as a guide, it would make sense for them to line them up roughly the same for testing.
Does anyone know if the Mad Dog 2 SINGE started with the dynamite exploding like the real LD? EDIT: The Mad Dog 1 image I have seems to be a DAPHNE capture of some sort (MPEG and OGG) - perhaps it was shared openly at some stage. Anyway, it has a few bits of corruption (and some typos in the instruction slides), so I guess it's a first pressing. As I'm a bit picky, I have from the SINGE data the instruction files from the 2nd pressing which I might overlay for my own copy, but otherwise it looks decentand I'll try to convert it straight to MP4 Last edited by jwallace; 18 January 2017 at 09:44. |

I know I'm bumping, but I just wanted to ask if there are any format limitations for this, I have a full size NTSC video ready, can I make it just MP4 and MP3 audio in an AVI, or does the code require anything specific?

Most Windows supported video/audio codecs probably works in AVI container.
It is based on DirectShow but it also uses very old method ("Sample Grabber", newer method suck for this purpose) of "capturing" raw video frames (which is then merged with Amiga display). Not all codecs support this capture method. |

I only ask because I have to build the file up in Vegas from individual bits, it's a standard MP4 though, just a bit big because it's fullsize (720 x 480). As long as that doesn't break anything it should make for a nice quality image, even with the few patches I've had to drop in from the DVD.
I was wondering, on the same subject, if there's a way of logging the Laserdisc player commands, as it might help with sorting the footage out. I did notice, however, that the SINGE videos appear to be cut with the successful results all in one file, as opposed to the real videos which have the failures first (so playing the sequence through has you shot). To be honest, the idea of editing the CDROM footage back together to resemble the actual disc feels like a fun challenge as I learn my NLE software, so I'm hoping to see how many I can do, and what footage might be missing if any. |

@all: am I crazy to suppose it would be possible to stream the video from withing the Amiga itself using some video format like CDXL? Using an external CDXL player running on the system that could listen to the LD commands.
Just imagine Dragon's Lair like that! |

If it's any interest to anyone following the thread..
I had a few hours free so I whipped up a prototype FMV engine for CD32 (non CDXL) http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=85646 |

This is really cool... I wasnt sure, at some point do you think Mad Dog would be playable on the CD32 via the FMV adaptor?
I dont think any games were ever made for the CD32 FMV which was a shame as alot of good games made it to the Philips CDi FMV which was pretty spectacular at the time, especially Mad Dog 1. I presume the CDi FMV card is similar to CD32 one? |
