K1 is really interesting, but has only 64 MB RAM... I hope there were more alternative for quite expensive Rapture and Ragnarok...
And I have Mediator 4000 Di MK II. Stachu has soldered one cable for 3,3 V and said, it's necessary for Sonnet and other cards from this topic. On the film I saw, Sonnet is working. Now I don't know what I should do: wait for other discoveries or buy K1. Last edited by OSH; 09 September 2018 at 11:04. |

Hello,
My system is an Amiga 4000D with Mediator 4000D 3V with a P5 MK3 turbo card. On the mediator is a Radeon 9200, a Killer K1 333Mhz Gaming Network Card R088J and a Soundblaster Live. Now my problem killer K1 is detected and works. The only application that works is SYSSpeed and ADoom is not working. is it because I have no 3D map? I will soon get a Voodoo 3 2000 can this 3D? Greetings Klaus |

But have you tried the WarpAMP / PPC Plugin for Amiga AMP? At least you can see if it's all working ok. Also it looks like Earth 2140 might only need RTG and not Warp3D, yes you need a Voodoo 3 for 3D. |

Mediator 4000 Di MK II yes is 5V only and either the Sonnet needs modified for 3.3V or the busboard needs some 3.3V supply. On the other hand if $500 is too expensive, you could always just get a CyberstormPPC instead, they often sell for as little as $1400 and are about half the speed, but at least you get a nice fast SCSI controller out of it. K1 is an entry level card with entry level performance, and it's quite good for what it is. |

But K1 doesn't need 3,3 V right?

as long as the pci slot gets the 3.3v power from where ever you should be fine
just dont confuse 3.3v input output signals with 3.3v power lines |

I'm not familiar with electronic, but I have to ask, whether I can safely use K1 with this Mediator or not...

No, the Mediator MK2 is 5V only, so you would need to modify either the Mediator busboard or the K1 for 3.3V. Or find some other way of supplying 3.3V to the Mediator. |

Yes or: I mean yes, that works, I wouldn't shove a cable in the connector. Solder it to the back of the busboard if you want to do it that way. If you're going to shove a power cable in the connector, please reconsider and send the K1 to Stachu or anyone who can operate a soldering iron. |

to test yeah that is fine but you dont want some cable just stuffed into a connector like that without some kind of solid connection like soldering to the orange 3.3v pin on atx
if you cant solder they have solderless wire connectors of many types where you can just cut the atx wire and connect both ends properly having it like that is dangerous for normal use like when you go to put everything together with case on etc they also have heat shrink tubing with solder inside that you can use a lighter on [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by nexus; 10 September 2018 at 10:18. |

well no you can just use twist screw on caps too just buy a atx adapter like this https://www.ebay.com/itm/E-ATX-20-Pi...UAAOSwnDxUiKOG
then cut the orange wire twist to the cable you have together and screw on a cap like these https://www.ebay.com/itm/158pcs-Elec...EAAOSwvylbVbyi or buy these https://www.ebay.com/itm/10Pcs-2-Pin...UAAOSw~jNZX1Pp many ways without soldering |

I wouldn't say you need to find a professional, just someone with some basic soldering experience. If you're going to go the ATX route, find someone who can correctly identify the 3.3V pin on the back of the busboard and solder the wire to it. If you want to modify the K1, the pictures should show you that someone with very basic soldering experience with a piece of wire and the VRM could do it in about five minutes. If you just shove the wire into the slot, there is a good chance it will become dislodged at some point, when that 3.3V wire comes in contact with something, bad things will happen. |
