I just picked up on this thread, and I have come to the conclusion that it is a massive wind-up!

Who in their right mind would buy a system that was over 15 years old and expect to find a media player, CD writing facility, recent software, etc.????

Is this guy for real?

If so, he must have more money than sense.

Leytond - expecting a modern PC and an Amiga to be equal is like expecting an SNES and a PS3 to do similar things!

Well it ain't gonna happen - they are from different eras!

Good luck with your efforts though, may you enjoy some great old games from years gone by. But you should have come here for advice before going to Amiga.org because I fear all your work so far will end up with a great big let-down.

If I was you I would forget about media players, CD Writing, Internet, etc. and just use your Amiga for playing some great retro games!

The old Amiga OS will never be as flexible or user friendly as modern day Windows (not including that pile of shit called Vista).

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO. thats what i thought 3 days ago, im having some great fun trying this amiga out, i thought it would never be as good as my pc, its loads more fun ill tell ya,
it might not have all the fetures of my pc but its still fun, and no i didnt know what it could do when i got it, i thought it was just another computer that i could do loads of stuff with, and yas there is loads of stuff to do on it , just not the same stuff as my pc,
no this isnt a wind up , its someone who has never ownd an amiga and has never used one , until now ,

so point1 amiga1200 with a 3.5 yep remember doing that ( case bulge and happy memorys)
2nd you did`t think to unplug the dvd on the pc ?

aslo can you giver us some idea of your pc background, uses, ability extra

edit: amiga software has kept up, classic work bench, amiga sys, its just the hardware is a bit dated

also say you had an archived file of the .7 variaty how would you unpack it on vista without extar utilies ?

yep thats what i wanted to do, wnated to put clasicwb on the drive ,
i aint even going there now.
1 the emulator wont work on my pc, roms not available or somthing.
2 yep my pc is all sata, apart from the dvd burner of course.
3 cant get the system.zip file. its not even in the download.
4 looks like i will be sticking with the real os3.5 when i get it through the post.
thats about it, just use my pc to download files and burn them onto cd so i can run them on the amiga.

I`m guessing you did`t buid this pc your self or you might have noticed you can have 2 devices on a pata port, just like the amiga, is there an extra conector on that dvd cable or did the builder not think you would like to conect some old HD/cd/dvd`s to it

also bet you pritty good on the old shell now, typein cmds like you don`t know hehehe its all fun, but you realy need to get that case off and take some piccies

yep ive got amiga forever, i liked it, thats why i bought the amiga,
TRUST me a real amiga aint nothing like it. no ware near as fast but ya can use amiga disks on a real amiga unlike a pc with vista on it, well on my motherboard i cant,
(asus p5q deluxe)
