That last version is actually quite confusing, it's not "blending" very well...

And I'm thinking out loud here, but making a "CD/diskette" hybrid thing might not be understandable enough.

Hmmm..

I agree with Akira on the last image. I dont think the disk/CD hybrid works and it just confuses.

Idea #2

A CD tilted at a 45degree angle (so it appears elliptical). The Amiga 'tick' is used to represent the laser beam hitting and bouncing off the disk (think the CD32 music player). The tick could have small images from amiga games going down and up it (images done in the same blue colours) and the CD could appear to be reflecting these images across its surface (again in the same colour scheme already used in the type).

I dunno if I explained that very well.

As you said, used in the cd32 thingy, and almost every amiga cd app i know of (absolutely cliche), but if that's your cup of tea...

I'll have a go at thinking something, but I'm quite busy at the mo.

I'll repeat my vote for a typography-only cover. :P

I dont agree that using an image of a CD would be cliche and using the tick to represent the laser would be a nice connection between the medium, the contents and the Amiga itself.

As for just having a plain cover with just type, it would be too minimalist and boring and IMO the overall effect would be too detatched from what the disk is all about.

okay guys, I am NO artist, but I have edited the cover slightly (more to help Antiriad) to show what I wanted, all I have done is remove some of the disk, and I have not joined the disk/dvd together again as I don't have the talent

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Or how about the KS1.3 hand holding a DVD instead of a floppy!

You are welcome to use that image.

There shouldn't be a problem with you using at least some of my animations, especially if I can keep exclusivity on a few of them. Please let me know which animations you wished to use beforehand if possible, to give me a chance to approve it. I may be able to help as well, as I have many of my animations converted to MPEG files (352x240, MPEG1)

I have put up a mini-site here for everything - http://atomnet.co.uk/dvd/ - if anyone is interested. Bippy is making his own now anyway so you probably wont bother with it, but I thought I would mention it anyway,

Right with the DVD now coming along nicely, I figured it's time to get the music section sorted..

I plan to include an audio gallery of games that don't have intro's and the such, so get suggesting!!

I can suppy huge amounts of CDTV/CD32 soundtracks if needed. I have about 75 CD32 soundtracks and about 10 CDTV soundtracks available from original amiga CDs.

Some CD32 soundtracks I would recommend are:
Benefactor
Brian The Lion
Clockwiser
Skeleton Crew
Soccer Kid
Marvin's Marvelous Adventures
Ultimate Body Blows
Zool 1
Zool 2

I would recommend just getting all the games music that you choose, from Unexotica, as it will sound it's best and will be original from there.

Right I really, Really, REALLY need other people doing screenshots, all that is left to do for the release is:

1). Screenshots for 45 games
2). Music for Ingame and other games
3). Menu GFX (50 games, 15-20 developers/publishers)
4). Finish the DVDCover (We need ideas for the Owl replacement)
5). Build (Author) the DVD, I cannot do this properly until the menu gfx are completed
6). Release it

I am now going to move into doing screenshots for some games, I wanna get this first DVD out within the next 8 weeks!

How about the Classic Amiga Ball, but instead of the white/red checked pattern you could have lots of little screenshots of what is on the DVD "wrapped" around the sphere.

Other than the obvious/unorignal ideas (like mine) I kind of like Akira's idea of leaving it black with just the logo. I mean, the Beatles had The White Album, Metallica had The Black Album. Both classic albums....why? Content. At the end of the day it is the content that matters.
