There is a "double click name in the list to play it" feature, but that may not be what you're after? Could you clarify?

Does HippoPlayer support MHI or mpega.library so that MP3 files could be played without a cpu overheat?

Just for fun i test this new 2.53 release under OS 4.1 and noted a very strange behaviour that It wasn't present before
When i try to drag the window in order to move it on screen.
Then when i release the Left click button the main window will turn back automatically to its original position! ... In short i can't move the Hippoplayer window at all

Excellent update! Thanks for fixing everything I reported here. And finally I can play so many more formats, like S3M, XM, AHX, 8SVX. I was just about to ask how to get HiP to play them. I guess the new HippoPlayer.group did the trick.

SIDs in RSID format are not supported, am I correct or missing something?

MP3 files are played using the mpega.library. As far as I know it's purely CPU based so it will cause heat

What kind of a problem you have with IT modules? IT module support is a bit special since it requires you to grab the Impulse deliplayer from the DeliTracker archive and make it available for Hippo, eg. by copying it to the same directory with the HiP executable.

Thanks for the report. This is probably related to the modifications related to window sizing from the lower left corner.

The above problem does not reproduce on kick 3.0, 3.1 or 3.2 for me though, so apparently there's something there that is not compatible with 4.1. I will try to investigate.

Most likely your HippoPlayer.group file was missing or was from an older installation.

RSID is not supported. SIDs are played at the moment using the playsid.library which is quite old and unfortunately does not support filters at all, for example. On the other hand, it is very fast.

I can confirm that this following procedure works:
  1. Download DeliTracker (I used http://www.unary.de/delitracker/delitracker232.lha as the link in Aminet didn't work for me)
  2. Extract the file "Impulse" from within the players.lha in the archive: delitracker232.lha/DeliTracker_II/Files/players.lha/DeliPlayers/PlayerStore/
  3. Copy it to your Hippo directory
  4. Now HiP is playing IT modules

Now, just a suggestion for a small improvement:
I found it a bit confusing the way HiP is looking for that "Impulse" file if not present in its directory. First, it will look for the assignment "eagleplayer2:" and if that's not present, the OS will (of course) ask you to insert volume "eagleplayer2:".
So (before reading this post here) I installed EaglePlayer from Aminet (http://aminet.net/mus/play/Eagleplayer.lha) which will create that assignment but that archive doesn't feature any "Impulse" player file. So that was not so helpful.
Why is it looking for EaglePlayer at all? Shouldn't it look for DeliPlayer instead?
Well, in the end I think it would be easier if HiP would just tell you to get DeliPlayer from Aminet and copy the "Impulse" player file to the Hippo directory. Straight and forward, no trying to locate that file by itself. But that might be just my opinion...
And maybe you could mention that in the "Install.readme", too, that would be helpful, I guess.

Another thing that worked most splendid is the version check of "Impulse". I had an old version in my DeliPlayer installation and HiP told me exactly why it's not working. Thumbs up!

Cheers & keep up the good work,
Michael

A small bug I encountered with v2.53: the setting for 'MPEGA quality' seems not to be saved correctly. I set it to 'high', click 'save' and close HiP. After starting up HiP again, it's reset to 'low'. Other settings like 'MPEGA freq. div' are correctly saved.

Cheers, Michael
