I agree with you twizzle, the gameplay is not 100% the same.
But try the new levels for a change

News about Gods Deluxe: nothing done since the release of level 3 and a debugged editor for Ultron to sink his teeth in.
I made good progress on Cadaver remake, but there's nothing close to a demo version yet. Moreover I've undertaken the task of cleaning up WHDLoad Mantis bugbase (and fixing bugs at the same time), which is a much less committing task that coding remakes, and that's ok for me at the moment (not much time, a bit tired). As said gimbal (?) I need two projects. Actually I need at least five projects.

Yes it was me, but it didn't help save Magic Pockets I think I have four projects going at the moment, not counting real life stuff. It is actually a better idea than you think; progress may be way slower, but the interest in the projects doesn't sink away. When I get tired of one project, I go back to another for a week or two.

Also it helps you to document your stuff properly so you don't end up getting lost when you have to pick up a project again

@gimbal: maybe I'll resume Magic Pockets but I'd like to figure out how the items are stored in original data files (to avoid entering them by hand: I did that on Gods and could have avoided it, and Gods is smaller!). Yes I resumed my whdload activity, just when I thought I had lost interest! Just don't force yourself, wait for the motivation to get back to you (well, when I was younger, I gave up project after project without ever finishing them. I guess I grew up then )

@twizzle: I think I know the game better than you now! Your bug report is strange. I had noticed that with WinUAE when JIT was on, the puzzle with the huge chest was not working. I fixed all other self-modifying code issues but that one I did not find.
On a real amiga (68060) after having fixed SMC issues, everything worked perfectly. Well I did not play 10 rounds to check the bugs, I'm crazy but not to that point
We can discuss the bug in Mantis rather than in this thread.

@gimbal: the bottom line is: study your projects, be realistic about your skills, your available time and your involvement. Don't start coding your project until you have analysed it deep enough & you know you can complete it.

If you want to recreate Quake 4D in HD all alone with 3D sound, improved enemy AI, and network support and virtual helmet interface in the evenings after work, you'll be able to create the Eclipse project, code some classes, experiment with OpenGL, but you'll give up quickly.
For all my projects, I had the gfx almost ready (ripped, or extractable from original files), and maps too so most of the tedious art work was behind me even before starting. But for example I would not attempt to remake Speedball II just because I'm sure I cannot get close enough to the original AI & management stuff, even if all gfx are ripped, there are no levels...

I'm fucking brilliant, I can finish anything. *sniff sniff*, weird smell all of a sudden.

Seriously, for me it is 2D stuff only. I did my Direct3D/OpenGL stuff in the past and I figured out looooong ago that 3D games are not for simple hobbyists with limited spare time.

It's just the hundred ideas floating around in my head that keep me from finishing stuff

ECLIPSE!? Yech! Netbeans ftw baby!

Hi everyone,

You can download v0.7 of Gods Deluxe here: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/jotd/gods

Main improvements:

- loads of bugs and annoyances fixed
- new world 1 of level 4

Level 4 will be completed. I wish I could work faster, but at the present time I cannot. In the meanwhile, enjoy this new version.

Strange, i haven't tested the last few betas. Now i noticed that my Sega Saturn USB pad doesn't work properly. Works flawless in the menu, but no reaction (d-pad directions+buttons) in-game.

Edit: Never mind, iirc it never worked with my pad and i saw it in the bugs readme. Anyway, JoyToKey is fine.

nice! It still amazes me just how incredibly smooth this game plays now. Silky smooth to be exact. I guess I have to study your code a little more JOTD

Let me add one request: it seems to me the "camera" wants to stick a little too far to the south; this allows you to see farther below you, but when moving up it can lead to unwanted surprises. it would be a good addition for me if a button could control if the camera favors to hover a little above or below the hero. Either that or try to keep the hero in the dead center of the screen if possible.
