but it does work, with every other proggie
so, who's fault could that be?

but, like i already said, blazey here doesn't have to optimize this just for me, seriously.

Not sure what the immediate response enhancement is, but I just gave it a go with speaker fill enabled and FWIW 5h00n4y is right, it works in other programs- well I only tried media player classic actually- but not mp. Vista Ultimate x64 here as well. Now if only I could get stupid quickplay to output 5.1 sound so I can watch bluray movies with full surround instead of simple stereo...

It's just a quick option to check the effect during play. Not really that importante.

Thanks for confirming this

I wonder, does this happen to anyone in Vista 32, or is it limited to x64? In any event, I'm probably being Mr. Obvious here but it stands to reason that since the "fill speakers" enhancement takes a 2-channel sound and puts it on all speakers, then for whatever reason it thinks it's already getting 5.1 sound from multiplayer and so doesn't do the enhancement. So then, is multiplayer sending out a 5.1 signal with only left and right used? Feel free to correct me on anything here of course- I'm just thinking "out loud."

Qun Mang: Yes, that sounds reasonable... but the thing is that I initialize the sound to what the user has set up in the control panel. So if it's setup to use stereo, fmod only outputs 2 channels, to my knowledge.

5h00n4y: I tried a 5.1 channel wavesound to test the speakers.

Which causes the problem obviously. Set it to mode you output internally (stereo) not 5.1 because you don't output in 5.1. Can't be any simpler

Hehe.. yeah, that might work, however then support for 5.1 sound is tossed away, not that it's that important...

Although I could make it user configurable I guess.

So... I'll make a stereo version and see if that works with fill then.

Or just clone front speakers to back speakers and mix both channels to center and lfe. Thats how WinUAE "5.1"-mode works

hehe.. yeah, that might be an idea aswell...

Ok, try this, however I doubt this will work, since Fmod uses STEREO as default, so that was what I used before I started to tamper will all this.

nope still nothing

one more thing.
of course i'm overwriting the 0.73 exe version with this test file, leaving the settings files and all as they are.
hopefully that's irrelevant.

Haha... okey... I'm running out of options... I could do like Tony suggested but that's more hassle and shouldn't be necessary... oh well, try some more tomorrow..

I made a new page for Multiplayer here

And a new Version: 0.74

New features:
  • Support for YM - Atari ST
  • Support for MIX - Atari Digi-Mix
  • Unplayable sounds is marked with a line through
  • Shows bitrate, although it isn't correct in the beginning of the sound

Bug fixes:
  • Libmod would only play mods, and not med, okt, digitracker etc.
  • Small memory leak in popup menu
  • Opening the popup menu and clicking on the top bar would move the window
  • Rightclicking on sliders doesn't do anything

Some GUI changes

Download Multiplayer 0.74 here

Great a new version
I will try it when I get home this evening. This sounds interesting :

So... I've decided to change the name, since Multiplayer is totally impossible to search for (as someone also stated earlier). Most important is that it's rather unique, and also would be nice if you can maybe tell that it can handle lots of (old) formats.

So let the brainstorming begin!!
