It says pin compatible with older chips. Yes it can be very nice. First in amiga.
I did it so you can do it on ragnarog. Bga replacing is not so hard.new chip is coming to you with its legs. Clean pcb and hot the cpu. I dont have ragnarog.but I want.

these PPC's are about the easiest thing you can do
they are small and use big solder balls
easily done with just a heat gun

now having said that the biggest issue people have is not cleaning the pcb properly
very easy for 1 ball not to grab and its a no boot situation

clean, clean then clean again then use flux should have no issues then after

ofc if you can preheat the pcb that will help you tons
^should always prebake any board low temps to prevent popcorning
i have to always always do this there is no skipping i live in a high humidity environment

looking at the PCI ID's and filename, i bet the original generation PCI Killer Ethernet cards.

Essentially a 603 with 64MB and Ethernet.

yeah DDR and USB if anyone wants to get that working
need to try the pci to pcie adpaters see if it works with the DDR2 pcie versions as they have 128MB stock

anyways that is the KILLER-PPC

just fyi it has a 6K LE FPGA/broadcom nic etc also onboard someone might have fun with

Ah yeah,

The Killer NIC was a very silly product for a very silly market.

But theres enough of them around for basement prices :-)

As for the USB port, i'm not entirely sure it supports Host Mode. From what i recall it was used for connecting to the QoS service, you could get a console to the BusyBox/Linux OS using it.

Wasn't these cards running a small linux OS on board to take care of the network load so the main CPU didn't have to bother?

yes there is a full linux kernal in the flash when it was used on winpc you could write apps to have it run using FNA SDK
eg: the most popular running a bittorent client on it with a external hdd on the usb

But you can bypass this to use the CPU directly with WarpOS? Neat!

the pcie version are stripped of all that extra stuff and all they did after was upgrade the ddr to ddr2 cpu is same

so if those startech pcie to pci adapters work on mediators then we can use them
they are transparent

This is starting to look really affordable after all. If only the 1200 support gets stable enough, I can easily get into this.

It’s got an original PSU but that’s the one I’ve run a sonnet and rapture on with no issues so it should be fine.

Now that I am at home at last, if the offer to lend me an A4K for development purposes still stands, I'm game.

It stands.

I’m just waiting for a ratte switch, replacement 2mb chip ram simm and Indi AGA Mk2 to arrive. Once they’re installed and working I can send it to you. You’ll still need to find a keyboard, mouse and Mediator busboard from somewhere.

I’ll pm you when it’s ready to go.

Sweet, thanks a lot! Standard A500/600/1200 mouse works I assume? And does PS/2 keyboards work with an adapter? If that's the case I would only need the mediator busboard (and a PCI PPC card of course).

Yep, a standard Amiga mouse works fine.

Not sure about the keyboard and keyboard adapter. One of the guys on the thread might know about that.

The cf card is prepared with os3.9 and bb 1&2 so you’re good to install p96, warp3d and the sonnet stuff once you’re ready. I’ll send a Voodoo3 and a Realtek pci network card with it. It doesn’t actually have a flpppy drive at the moment so I’ll try and get a gotek in place so you have a way to transfers files onto it before you get the Mediator/network card up and running.

I got a gotek available that I'm not using in my 1200 at the moment, so I could use that otherwise. I do also have a Win XP machine with a CF and SD card reader that I use with WinUAE to fix my 1200 setup, so I could take that route as well as doing a proper backup of the CF card before I get started.

Disclaimer: These cards will never run something like Q3 without a mod (if that is possible).

Also, I'm currently debugging the added code (the library got 10% bigger) and at the moment there is still a very small chance that I run into something unsolvable.

These cards don't have the full I2O as the other cards and perform software page table lookup. The first is untested, the latter has a bug in it at the moment.

Yeah I mean PS/2 adapters work if they're for big box Amigas. If the Amiga->PS/2 adapter was for A2000 then a simple DIN to PS/2 adapter is needed.
