Like I said. Warp3D does not seems to be affected. Only direct access to the frame buffer.

Hey guys. Just a short update to say with Hedeon's help from 2000 miles away I've got a new board running-sort of. It's a little faster. Only some basic stuff running so far.
I'm going to call it "Ragnarok". 8.Ram Disk:> aflopswos Amiga Flops Benchmark (Double Precision), V2.0 Module Error RunTime MFLOPS (usec) 1 -7.6739e-13 0.0626 223.7203 2 -5.7021e-13 0.0456 153.4247 3 -2.4314e-14 0.0437 388.5714 4 6.8612e-14 0.0562 266.6667 5 -1.6209e-14 0.1012 286.4198 6 1.3961e-13 0.0626 463.4207 7 -3.6152e-11 0.1625 73.8462 8 8.9373e-15 0.0675 444.4444 Iterations = 256000000 NullTime (usec) = 0.0025 MFLOPS(1) = 191.2644 MFLOPS(2) = 155.6729 MFLOPS(3) = 262.3982 MFLOPS(4) = 395.5178 Old Rapture results: 1 -7.6739e-13 0.1022 137.0031 2 -5.7021e-13 0.0823 85.0902 3 -2.4314e-14 0.0578 294.0541 4 6.8612e-14 0.0823 182.3362 5 -1.6209e-14 0.1600 181.2500 6 1.3961e-13 0.0889 326.1863 7 -3.6152e-11 0.2823 42.5131 8 8.9373e-15 0.0956 313.7255 Iterations = 256000000 NullTime (usec) = 0.0045 MFLOPS(1) = 110.8410 MFLOPS(2) = 93.8136 MFLOPS(3) = 167.9971 MFLOPS(4) = 280.3369 Last edited by grelbfarlk; 19 June 2018 at 14:03. |

Adoom gave me a benchmark result of 51.83 fps.... at 800x600. 61.17 fps at 800x480. 640x480 gives nonsensical results.
GLQuake gives a disappointing result of 50.5FPS@640x480. But I have wide FOV as I normally run at 800x480, so maybe that doesn't mean much. Quake2 65FPS which is not much more than my overclocked Rapture. Gears 83.95fps at 640x480 Dosbox though.... seems pretty pretty pretty good. Things are not 100% working yet. Something else weird that I've noticed is that with my ScummVM 1.81 I can set 16-bit 44khz AHI Mode on my PCI card and it plays without stuttering now.
Also frogger. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 21 June 2018 at 01:09. |

Well not really-I don't think so. The PPC isn't involved much when just dumping an audio stream to a 68k ahi device. Then if the output format doesn't match the AHI device, the 68k does the conversion, usually badly. Seems like there's something different going on with how PCI transfers are happening with these later cards. I would assume Hedeon if he used a PCI sound card with his Sister-of-Rapture that has the same 7410 as the Rapture he would also see PCI sound working better, we'll see. Quake 3 results are not so great at the moment either:
Rapture 37.6 fps Ragnarok 41.2 fps With Bilinear, Vertex, Texture one step down from max, Geometry high. I thought they were much better than they were at first but on the same demo on Rapture, setting Trilinear and Texture at high went down to ~30 FPS. |

It mean, that power of your PowerPC CPU is that big, that "amiga bus" have enough time for sound buffer- great |

Well that's what I'm saying is I don't think that's correct, that it's not the PPC being faster that is helping, I think it's the PCI bridge that is helping. Openarena got 30FPS with a short timedemo I recorded (vertex lighting). Pretty much everything is running now but I don't think it's optimized. |

This is all Hedeon's work which made it pretty easy to get working-I did almost nothing. I'm just a dumbass with a hex editor and a sometimes-working compiler. Not really, though it's stable, in some applications it's now slower than a Rapture. |

Anyway, trying and mostly failing to improve memory speeds. With Hedeon's improvements to the library I hit 44 45.2 FPS with Quake 3, same test as before. Q1 went up to 53.2 fps, OpenArena 32.9.

Testing it on the desktop I have found I don't need my supplemental power connector anymore and seems to start up every time.
Quake3 and Dosbox seem to like the SB128 now too. Last edited by grelbfarlk; 26 June 2018 at 03:00. |
