Thanks Arti.
I renamed SDL_SWSURFACE to SDL_HWSURFACE and it did the trick. ![]() Could you please add a hint about that in the trouleshooting section of the readme? Others might have the same problem... |

the difference afaik is that with swsurface the graphical content is held in main memory while with hwsurface its held in rtg card memory. the latter is of course faster especially for blitting but then demands enough memory on the card. swsurface is dater where the main load of gfx manipulation must be done by cpu and cannot be done by the card, like when drawing curves or so. one nees to keep this in mind to find best compromise,

Thanks for pointing that out wawa. I tested the game chromium(nice shooter) after changing the env-var because that was what I had in mind, too. And it is indeed a little bit faster with HWSURFACE.

Finally 3.4 Dev2 is here:
* added libnix build (beta). Uses system math libraries. * added Messages translations support * added pasting text into search bar * added utf8 charset into bookmarks * added scale_aga option to use own website scaling in aga mode * implemended resource loading from OS4 version by Chris Young * improved options opening and switching to Workbench in AGA version * updated to newest sources * added warp_mode for clib. Uses 100% cpu for more speed * fixed buttons highlighting (more than one stayed highlighted) * fixed OpenURL handling * set default net_player to Ampilfier * reenabled disc cache * created github repository at https://github.com/arczi84/NetSurf-68k NetSurf-m68k-3.4-Dev2.lha (AGA builds included) Last edited by arti; 28 September 2015 at 13:13. |

Works fine so far.Tested the standard and clib2 version in WinUAE. But I had to set the priority to -10 to make it a little faster.
With prio set to default 0 opening the player or even access the disk cache was so slow that the system froze for seconds if not more than a minute on complex pages. BTW: Why does every new version have to default to polish language? Wouldnt it be wise to change it to english before you release it to the public? Not a big deal to change it but some people might have trouble to find the config and edit it. ![]() |

Did you upload a corected version or do you mean with priority -10?
If the latter than yes it's more than ok. It is awesome. I would say it's one of the fastest versions ever. Tested some YT videos, mp3 streaming and downloded some demos on pouet. Everything is fast and it didn't crash. Still a bit sluggish here and there but thats no problem. Maybe someone with a fast Miggy could tell us how it runs on real hardware. But it should be faster than the last version as well I guess. EDIT: tested the warp_mode for clib version and the only thing it does is freezing the mousepointer/keyinput after a few seconds permanently(have to reset). Away from that it seems to speed things up. Last edited by Michael Sykes; 27 September 2015 at 15:00. |

What do you mean by a fast miggy? I have blizzard 060 and 256 of memory. If there is an idiot proof guide to installing it I will have a go. I did try a number of versions a while ago and kept getting crashes so gave up.

You don't need to install anything now. What crash are you getting.

It was a while ago and it just seemed to lock up. Life and lots of other stuff have limited my time to play since then. Do I just extract everything to a folder and run it?

Open the info of the Netsurf icon and lower the priority a little bit. This made it a bit more responsive for me.Once the site is comletely loaded and redered the mouse works normal.
It can take up to a minute or even more on a fast emulator. The Amiga is much slower so give it some time.HTML 5 and css-sites are much more complex than anything IBrowse can render. Quote:
In addition to that you need Amplifier for MP3 streams and FFPlay for Youtube playback. Last edited by Michael Sykes; 28 September 2015 at 22:50. |
