However, disabling CPU caches helped! I have managed to run a dozen of DOpuses (quickly running out of 4M of fast RAM), and a WHDloaded 9Fingers on top of that which seems to be running in Z3 RAM. (The demo failed after a while reporting "Access Fault" ($B008) at PC = $40F7DF30 (ExpMem $4f30). Instruction stream fault on $DC6A006C.) So the problem is somehow related to CPU caches. |

While the design has been filed to the state when the system boots more or less stable with 2M Chip RAM + 16M Zorro RAM, here are some SysInfo V3.24 figures.
ICache ON, DCache ON, IBurst ON, DBurst OFF (default after boot): Code:

Dhrystones 2861 MIPS 2.98 Chip Speed vs A600 5.14 Bustest results: Code:

Last night got 64 megabyte memory chip, soldered it in place today and hacked the core to accomodate bigger RAM size:

No no only 2M of Chip RAM is installed as can be (hardly) seen on the first picture The rest four SIMM banks are empty.
I guess I'll go and post a pic for Zetr0 Last edited by tnt23; 12 March 2010 at 19:28. |

That's make something like 150 (USD?) for a mounted board ready to plug-in?
If so, I'm in. |

I doubt he'd sell this card. It was just a prototype. I'm sure once the design is perfected then the costs can be lowered, plus there are NRE costs involved with prototypes which can be averaged to a very low sum when you're making larger numbers.
While 64Mbytes is a lot in Amiga terms, it is enough to get the majority of Zorro III owners digging into their wallets? |

Just after posted, I realised that I'd worded myself poorly.
What I meant was if he designs a card for a production run. Preferably 256MB or more. :-.) |
