no clue, what version of winuae do you use?
latest 3.4.0 stable version latest beta version - try 32 and 64 bit version, maybe it makes a difference on your machine. |

I will. Just going afk soon. I'll play more this weekend. I am using 3.4 x64 currently.I wonder if it's because I was not in the active window and instead using my PC while it rendered. I have had WinUAE crash on me like that at times if I leave something up and running while I go and do something else. Might be a windows 10 things in how it handles windows that are not in focus. More to come this weekend but I'll probably shift the topic to the WinUAE support section if it persists.

Question: Is there a difference in choosing to emulate 030+FPU+JIT instead of 060+JIT? I have always chosen to emulate 060 since the emulated Amiga is a clone of my real system, I was just curious in terms of performance primarily, has any of you tried it?

I would imagine that the '030 would have less software trapping than the '060 so as long as you have "fastest possible but maintain chipset timing" set up, you should be good with the '030.

did anyone tested the LW4UP RTG patch for Lightwave 4.0y?
the binary of 4.0y can be found on the VideoToaster 4.3 CDrom - patch successfull applied. once I start it, i get a screen requester, with some UAE modes (p96 uae screen modes) - choosing one, gives me a guru. does it need full CyberGraphX or should it work with p96 uaegfx too? #1) guru / system failure: 8....A - Line A exception - line a is what? another one with some Semaphore failure. #2) on my VideoToaster(less) config i dont even get the screenmode requester, but did install p96 with uaegfx before. dunno, if the patch removes the switcher dependency - hmmm. so someone has to test this on a VideoToaster machine - screenshot as proof pls ![]() #3) zoned: Lightwave_v4.0y+_LW4UP.lha includes different 4.0 version: FP4y+ - patched with LW4UP from aminet (needs Videotoaster machine or toasterless switcher) FP4k - scene release ( no need for switcher) FP4y-DC - scene release ( no need for switcher) FP4y-VT43 - original binary from VT 43 CDrom copy the content from ENVARC in your envarc: / env: folder without videotoaster you can start from within the folder fromthe archive, first AssignMe, next any lightwave version. on a videotoaster machine - you have to replace sys:newtek/programs/lightwave.fp4 with lightwave.fp4y+ so you can start it from within the switcher. FP4y+ freezes with distorted screen when started from within toasterless swicher , while original fp4y-vt43 does work. i guess it is about the correct cybergraphx version/card driver. DEMScape modeler plugin added - does work now with modeler of lightwave 5.
thanks to alkis for fixing the source ![]() you need to convert the vista dem to stm maps. use vdem2stm (also uploaded) to convert the maps. load the stm map, when demscape ask for a dem file within modeler. |

Fresnel Shader version 1.0 - © 1997, Brenden Mecleary
i think this is unique on the amiga. This is a surface shader plugin. source code just needed a minor fix and lwpanel.h from lw5.6 sdk - no typo ![]() added incl. source. Last edited by emufan; 22 July 2017 at 01:41. |

take a look in the zone: demscape.zip by alkis.
next to the two working plugins, you will find demshade and goo. both do not work right now, goo will crash and demshade does not work as it should. I tried to debug the demshade plugin, but I did not make any progress so far :/ but you can test it on your own. #1) Miggy's First Dance - by Rod March (apollo forum). not done with lightwave, but blender. very impressive anyway. he may do something with lightwave on the vampire, once it comes with fpu/softfpu. Maybe here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!to...er/ncr6lLfIBn8 or http://www.yqcomputer.com/321_1175_1.htm or ftp://ftp.newtek.com/pub/ or http://www.yqcomputer.com/forum_321_1.htm you can find anything useful to add? Last edited by rygar; 26 July 2017 at 00:31. |

thanks for the links. it's already hard to find those old pages.
sometimes they give some hints on old software, we dont know about. on newtek site i was looking for a real lw5.0 sdk with lwpanel.h included, but they only have things for 6.5+ a good source so far is Marvin Landis website, which has some additional link and is hosting those rare plugins with source code. i hope there are still some more of those old websites, but I cannot find anything else atm. @emufan and alkis:
I tested the plugins in both my real and emulated environments, with identical results: Goo is the only one that crashes Lightwave with Suspend/Reboot message. Demshader does nothing except give a surface with a loooong name in gibberish/ASCII letters ( I saw that in Polygon Statistics(hotkey w)). Demscape, if one does not convert the Vista DEMs, crashes magestically and persistently the whole system (I had to turn off my Amiga). VDEM2stm DEMs work 100% ok! Fresnel Shader works great! Thank you guys! ![]() Last edited by Muadib; 27 July 2017 at 19:38. |

thanks for testing. all that is what i get too
![]() there is one sprintf command in DEMShade which pumps some value in a variable, i think this is the issue. but so far i'm not able to fix it. with goo i tried to paste in some error trapping from a working plugin, but all attempts failed :/ DEMscape wants USGS original DEMs, which seems different from those of Vista. so you need to convert them in stm format ![]() |

Bman's Blinking Shader added.
thanks again alkis. initially i thought is will immitate envelope for some surface atributes, but it does only "blink" those features: Luminosity, Diffuse, Specularity, Reflectivity, Transparency. with abit more effort, it should be possible to let them animate over time. #1) one problem: it seems they get no entry in the scene file, once applied to the scene. saving the scene should get them listed with a plugin tag in the scene file. i dont know why this happens. :/ Last edited by emufan; 01 August 2017 at 18:21. |
